When I watch big marathons like New York or Boston, I am simply amazed at the pace the winners manage to keep for 26.2 miles. I can’t even run one mile as fast as them. I could be wrong on the exact number, but I think I read that Geoffrey Mutai, the 2011 NYC marathon winner who finished in 2:05.06, would be running a 12.6 pace on the treadmill. 12.6. Now, I am the first to admit that I hate the dreadmill, but I’m pretty positive that mine at the gym don’t even go that fast (not that I’ve ever even thought of attempting it!) I think my “sprints” on the TM are around an 8.5….yeah, not even close to Mr. Mutai!!
Anyway, I saw this video on facebook yesterday, and although you all may have already seen it, I’d like to share it again. It showcases Ryan Hall, arguably the fastest male in the United States–and it’s insane!!
Ryan Hall = Bionic!!
In other news, I am in love with my compression socks! I mentioned I bought my first pair awhile back through a Groupon deal. I got a pair from Zensah and needless to say, I was curious. Would they work? How well?
Thus far, I’ve worn them after a few of my harder workouts; workouts where I know that I am always sore the next day. I wore them following a fairly speedy (for me!) run, after body pump, and after a day spent involving lots of lunges, squats, and general torture on my lower extremities. And you know what?! NO SORE MUSCLES ANYWHERE! They’re kinda like magic I think! Of course, now I’m curious about more compression gear for other parts of my body.
Truth—what’s the fastest (estimate) you’ve ever run??
