Many of you have seen me on the blog over the past few years, but this is the first time I’ve taken over the laptop and introduced myself personally. You see, Mom and Will are coming back from Park City right now and they left me unattended. I may not have opposable thumbs, but I do know my way around the electronics!
Mom usually spends her free time writing about her daily life and I kinda think it’s unfair. Where’s the Tally love? So, I decided that today was the day I was going to take matters into my own hands: it’s time for y’all to hear about the day in my life, the life of Tals!

Still no thumbs, but I like to think that I have fingers at least.
Usually I wake up around 6am. I do like to catch my zzzzzz’s, but I make a point to wake up before Mom. That way, I can ensure that I’m the first face she sees every morning. Who wouldn’t want that?
After I do my morning stretches, I start to follow Mom around the house. And really, if I’m being honest here, I kinda stalk her. You see, I can’t ever figure out what she has on deck for me that day, and I’m always dying to know. If I watch her every movement, I can usually find some clues and piece together the morning’s activity. If I see a peanut butter sandwich in a bag come out, I tend to get really excited. Mom always packs me a sandwich when we play outside together, so this usually means good things!
Obviously, Mom took this photo. Will has far too many skillz to have ever created this.
I try my best to behave in the car, but y’all, I get carsick. Those confounded boxes on wheels make my stomach lurch like you can’t even imagine, so it’s hard for me to contain my whining. Mom lets me sit in the front seat (or even on her lap if she is the passenger), and that helps a little bit. But don’t worry; I’m a delicate 65lbs, so I’m sure she can’t feel a thing. I’m nothing if not considerate!
One of my favorite things in the whole wide world is snowshoeing. Luckily, it’s winter here in Colorado so I get to go quite frequently. I may not look like a snow dog, but I actually really, really love that fluffy stuff! My black fur repels all the moisture and keeps me warmer than most dogs out there. My sister, Isis, is a Husky, and I even think I dress more warmly than she does. It’s a gift!
Sometimes I go a little crazy when I get outside in the snow, but I really can’t help it. I try to behave myself but I JUST LOVE THE COLD!!

Sometimes I slip into crazy mode. Sorry y’all.
Did you know there are little creatures that live underneath the snow?! I made that discovery a few years ago and have been fascinated by them ever since. I like to stick my head under there to find them, but thus far, my plans have been thwarted. Maybe one day I’ll see what those critters look like!

THEY’RE UNDER THERE SOMEWHERE!
One of my greater frustrations in life is that Mom can’t keep up with me. Seriously, we have all of this fresh powder to play in, and she just walks along, all slow. Drives me crazy. Can’t she see that it is go-time?!

Guys, I really try to wait for her….but she is a snail.

Snow is my life!
In the end, I usually just say “screw it” and give up on her. Fortunately, I have radar-like hearing and eagle eyes, so I can always find her, no matter how far away I get. This is pretty useful because I can ditch the slow folks and romp around in the snow for hours….but I’ll always find my way back in time for those sandwiches!
Anyway, I’ve gotta go now, guys. My little brother, Tiger, just came in and he is yapping in my ear about something. He is only a few months old, so I’m pretty sure he thinks I’m the coolest dog on the block.
He probably wants to go find some shoes to chew on; that’s his new favorite activity, and I’m happy to help! See you all later!

Love the post Tally. Hopefully your mom gets back soon. Till then, keep Tiger in check 😉 Happy New Years
Such a cutie! Tiger is adorable! Our previous neighbors had a boxer that loved my girls. She would run over to visit them whenever she saw them outside. So sweet!
Tally, I’m so glad I took a moment in the middle of my morning to “paws” and read your post. Good dog!
Oh Tally. I do hope to meet you one day…
Oh my goodness – this is so cute!! I like the snow here just like Tally, but I don’t think I look that cute playing in it. 🙂
Ahhh Snowshoeing is Picassos fav thing to do too! Good work Tals!
too funny! tally and philly could be cousins – in looks and snow loving alone. tally is WAY more adventurous (and bigger!) than phil.
Awesome post, Tally! Our lab/boxer/terrier mix Coaly wants to come and give you a run for your money in that snow. She’s also obsessed with cold weather and is SO fun to watch when she’s playing!
I love that crazy mode picture! So funny I mean FIERCE!
Haha! This is a great post! Great job, Tals!
Bernie also looks for the creatures that live under the snow, he hasn’t found them yet either!
The “crazy mode” photo made me laugh so hard! I can remember my dogs acting like that. Love the post, Tally. 🙂
Great job, Tally! Loved getting to know you better and seeing you enjoy yourself in the Colorado powder! Hope you have a fabulous January… and get to eat lots of PB sandwiches too. I kinda think your Mom likes you!
I wanted to let you know I already receive my gift card! thank you so much!
I ordered new Brooks ! will arrive just in time for my bday next week! thank you!
Hey Tals, I know you get excited for your mom’s PB sandwiches, but that’s just because you haven’t had me around in a while to feed you pepperoni’s. Don’t worry though, I’ll see ya next month!
P.S. You’re such a photogenic action shot kind of gal. Not many can pull off that sideways-tongue-out-of-mouth look quite as good as you!
Cooper and Tals would be buds–but she would run circles around him! I loved this post–you know they study us to figure out the day–so routine oriented! Great pics of Tals, Will!
Awesome, Tally! Has your mom ever tried to give you Dramamine? It works well for doggies 🙂 My greyhound is hating the cold nights in CO these days and refuses to go outside unless it is light outside.
I’ve thought of that but not sure on the dosage and keep forgetting to ask my vet. How long does it calm them for?
I just used it for a major road trip (East Coast to FL to CO) and I gave her one pill of Dramamine in the morning (she’s about 60 lbs) and it worked all day. She was lively enough to get out at rest stops and play but calm enough to get right back in the car and sleep. So it didn’t totally knock her out, but it drastically reduced the anxiety of getting in the car and settling down (and drooling and puking).
So. so. so. cute. Love this post 🙂 Obvi.
HAHA!!!! I love Tals! Will is an AMAZING – no, OUTSTANDING photographer. I LOVE those crazy dog snow shots of Tals. She’s great!!!
I don’t pack Rex sandwiches. I might need to start 🙂
omg this post is too cute. And Tally?! I want him. Careful, I might snatch him up! 😉 Love the pictures of him playing in the snow.
This is such an adorable post! Love it!
You crazy dog lady!! 😉
I love it.
Oh Tally, you and Sasha could be sisters. If I tell her you have snow where you live she might move away from us. Fingers crossed she doesn’t hack my google reader and check out your mom’s blog!
That’s cute. My lab loves peanut butter sandwiches, well anything with peanut butter, bananas, apples, rocks. He’s not picky!
Gorgeous dogs! I love that he loves the snow so much. My little dog is a wuss when it comes to cold weather.
