Guess what happened yesterday?
We bought our plane tickets to Alaska!
Will texted me from work and was all psyched because plane tickets were insanely cheap—like, less than $400 round trip from Denver to Anchorage! Granted, we upgraded our baggage allowance (guessing our packs won’t be carry-on friendly!), but in the end, we managed to score our tickets for roughly $450 each. Is that a lot of money? Of course it it. However, I think that is darn cheap for a plane ticket alllllllll the way up yonder! Plus, finding such a steal on this leg of the trip will make the pricey bush plane a lot easier to swallow. Now that I think about it, I think each person’s portion of the bush plane will cost more than this flight!
The dolla bills aside, I am even more excited because this makes it official: we are going to Gates of the Arctic National Park! The bush plane has been reserved (more on that later) and now plane tickets have been purchased, so the larger logistics are taken care of. Granted, we’re still working on that whole car-on-the-Dalton-Highway thing, but baby steps, right?!
