Aloha Means Sadness

Seriously. Once again, I’m going into the personal here, but I’m not gonna lie: I’m kinda sad today and my usually happy face is a little chipmunk-esque from the tears I shed this morning. Why? Because my sis left this morning to embark on her exciting adventure –and move– to Hawaii.

Yes, that Hawaii. Of course, I am very excited for her to begin her career as a PA (and super excited to have a derm sister that can do all sorts of fun things with my face AND fix my premature wrinkling issues!), and I am absolutely going to love visiting her in Oahu…. but I am going to miss my sister. Hawaii is so far away and I can’t just hop in the car and arrive at her door a few minutes later. This realization hit me as I hugged her goodbye before I left for work this morning. Sure, we have our sister squabbles and we both have memories of slap fights when we were little kids. I mean, what sisters didn’t do that stuff?! But as the years have gone by, I think we have become as close as sisters can be. Sigh. But not to worry — I dare say we have some exciting Hawaiian adventures planned for this winter, so stay tuned!!

In other news, my mom did something for me today that cheered me up in a way that only a mother could do:

Yes, that’s right — she found my pumpkin!! If you remember from my post awhile back, I was in a huge crisis because my local grocery store was out of pumpkin for the season. Now, I’ve heard some local natural grocery stores have some, but I hadn’t had the time to search it out. Luckily, my mom is awesome and grabbed 2 cans for me when she saw some at Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, I have a personal ban against Wal-Mart so I can’t go in the store to buy any myself….but I am more than willing to accept these babies! Pumpkin oatmeal muffins, here I come!!!!

Last but not least, I need your help!!  I am going to listen to your words of wisdom, and I would like to change the name of the blog. I’d like something not so generic, unoriginal, and non-descript, and I want to change before I convert anything else over. In your opinion, what would be good title for my blog? Are they any words that you think encompass the essence of my blog; words that I should include in my new title? I would seriously appreciate the help here, and am looking for ANY and ALL ideas!!!!

Thinking of you! know how tough it is to be far away from family. glad your mom thought of something to cheer you up 🙂 unfortunately I have not been reading your blog long enough to think of any great words (if any come to me…I will let you know though!)…I think for me I just thought of things that were important to me…words that described how I try to live. Perseverance (in my blog title) has become such a huge thing for me so I am glad I chose that one. hope that helps! excited to see what you come up with!

Super Wal-mart is awesome and so is your mom. I hope your sister knows how much you are going to miss her! How about…….ummm…..I don’t know….you are pretty random……..”my open sky” (I know you love that about Colorado, and you are such a Colorado girl)……. “the best of midwest” (haha)……. “girl in the rugged” (becuase you love enjoy the rugged outdoors so much)………. “I love texas people” (just kidding about that last one!)……

I’m sorry about your sister’s move…(big hugs)!! Anytime you want a friend to go with you to Hawaii though to visit, please don’t forget me :).

I had no idea pumpkin was in high demand at the local stores – wow! Seems like that stuff is usually overflowing the end-caps at the stores in previous years. Glad your mom was able to find some.

I am not creative so will be no help with the name… sorry.
