It also helped matters that I think I had 95% decided to pick this race as well, before I asked for help. The scenery is beautiful, and I am always down for a scenic run over an urban route any day. I’ve also heard that the after party is pretty decent so I’m stoked. It should be a great time; thanks for all the help in my decision!
As a fair warning, now I’m probably going to ask y’all for help anytime I have a life decision to make. Do you see what bed you’ve made for yourself?
As I’m sure many of heard, Denver got hit by an awesome snow storm yesterday!! Of course, I’m one of the crazies that loves the snow! I didn’t get to go skiing, but I did decide to take Tals out for some snowshoeing to get a nice (cold!) outdoor workout in for the day. I miiiiiiiiiiight have been a little overzealous cause 6″ of snow does not a snowshoe make! I realized this when I got there, but I figured we could just walk around anyway.

Oooph!
A few things combined to make yesterday morning the hardest walk ever!! First of all, there was JUST enough snow to make the walk/post-hole kinda tough. Second of all, the temps had dropped while I was out there and it was sitting on 25*. Third, a freaking snow squall blew in while I was in the middle of the tree-less open space and I wasn’t wearing glasses! Rookie mistake. The snow was blowing straight into my eyeballs the entire way back. I was trying to cover my poor little pupils with my hood, but that snow storm wasn’t having it. Pretty sure I’m snow blind now. Or that might be an exaggeration. You decide 😉
So, my pics are a little dog obsessed. Not like that’s something new or anything! Besides, look at how freaking adorable Tals was!
Unfortunately, I suck. That little 3 mile walk ended up being my daily workout! Weak sauce, I know. No excuses. My dog manned up way better than me!
How do you feel about the snow: love it or hate it?

Yay for the Colorado Marathon! I am sure you will enjoy it.
I have not signed up for any races. My coach wants to see me do some consistency first before I get back on the racing scene. The winter months will see me doing the core workouts such as strength training and running.
I do not like the snow unless I don’t have to get out into it. I prefer warm weather which is probably why I will end up back in Texas
I love the dog pics, they are cute! My dog loved the weather too, she’s a big hairy golden retriever and would have rolled in it for hours yesterday if we had let her.
Yay for the Colorado Marathon! I ran it a couple of years ago and I am actually in that video at 3:24 into it. Girl on in the white long sleeve shirt, black shorts, black gloves, and white hat. That’s funny that I found myself.
I think you will really enjoy the race, it is beautiful running through the canyon. Only bad thing is that it really flattens out towards the last 6 miles and you have to run it with your hurting quads. I am actually toying with the idea of signing up this year though…..hmmmm.
I can’t believe you got snow already! That’s nuts! Your dog is adorable, so lots of pictures is a good thing.
To answer your question on my blog: no, running with a stroller isn’t easy, especially if there are hills. However, it sure beats NOT running. 🙂
Love snow… when it’s nice and white and pretty. Hate snow when it’s mushy and gray and gross…
I’m more of a warm weather person and we don’t get much snow in Richmond 🙂
I LOVE the snow, but I am glad it doesn’t stick around like it does in the mid west. My dogs all hate the snow I have to force them outside to go potty. I think you will love the Colorado Marathon such a nice race. I have signed up for only one race so far in 2012, my ironman, and that’s because it sells out fast. I am trying to decide if I want to do the winter distance series like last year or try the chilly cheeks duathlon series.
I love the snow too–we built a snowman and went for a walk while it all melted today (yesterday I had to work). And this morning I had an awesome chilly run.
Congrats on your decision to run the Colorado Marathon! I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that it doesn’t sell out before January so I can see how I do in Houston before signing up.
That is ridiculous how different it is there than when we visited! I feel like it was only a couple of weeks ago!!!! The cold front hit Dallas today. I walked outside to walk the dogs this morning in shirts in a shirt…….turned right back around to go inside and put on sweats and a jacket!!!! LOVE IT!
Love the snow picks. I’m actually kind of sad we left CO for a trip back to WI on Wednesday, I wanted to hang around for all the snow! I’d rather have snow than the sleety rain WI got today!
No races yet, at least not for 2012. I have the Halloween half in MN on Saturday and then I have to figure out if I’m running a trail half in Highlands Ranch by the end of the day Saturday…or the price goes ups. I’m thinking not, but we’ll see how my first half goes…
I hate the snow. More so, I hate to be cold. My toes are freezing right now, and they are in socks, slippers, and under my covers.
Glad you got registered for the race, that one does fill up quickly. Tara, the one who commented above, is the one I paced the last half with last year. 🙂
I AM NOT READY FOR THE SNOW!!!!
My official opinion will always be “Which race has the cooler finisher medal”
your dog is the cutest! I love her and YAY colorado!
Just found your blog from Hungry Runner Girl and wanted to say hi! I’m in Denver too and a runner but am out of commission right now due to knee surgery. Anyway, I would have voted for CO marathon/half too – I did Colfax last year and think CO looks a lot more fun!
