Let me cut to the chase:
I finished my first ultramarathon!
The Antelope Canyon 55K was tough, technical and not exactly what I expected, but all of that is a story for next week. You see, here is the deal: I am absolutely drowning this week!
We had zero internet connectivity in Page so I missed some deadlines last week, forcing me to play catch up. Then, I got caught in the massive blizzard on the drive back to Denver, stranding me in southern Colorado after the most terrifying drive of my life. Additionally, we {our family business} is opening up for the season next week so I’m running around getting things sorted before we kick off our 21st year of business. Finally–and the best– is that a bunch of people are flying in tonight for our bachelor/ette ski/birthday weekend!
{My sis and I have birthdays that are three days apart so when combined with a bachelorette weekend, we’re talking major shenanigans on the ski slopes!}
All of this is to say that I promise to be back next week–with my head attached!–and sharing a recap and more details of the Antelope Canyon ultra. If there is anything in particular you’d like to hear about, definitely let me know. It’s kind of mind boggling to think of encapsulating 34-some miles in a single post!
Happy weekend everyone!

Congratulations, I can’t wait to read the recap! It sounds as if you’ve had somewhat of another ultra marathon since the race 🙂 Have fun this weekend!!!
So awesome! I bet it was a grand adventure, can’t wait to read all about it! Have a great shenanigan filled weekend!
Congrats – sounds like a major adventure!
Argh! I’ve been desperate to read your ultra recap! I was supposed to run my first ultra this Sunday but I’m currently stranded on a Scottish island and am going to miss it, so figured your recap would be like an ultra by proxy…
Really well done on finishing it and good luck with catching up on everything!
Stunning scenery! Which had to help with the pain, right? Love that you and Heidi ran together.
I am not going to lie I have been checking your blog every day for an update. Colorado got dumped with snow! I am happy you are safely home and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
You’re such a tease!!!
Have fun this week at your party! Hope there’s some fakes penis’ involved!!!!!
Looking forward to the race report – that’s quite a teasing image for a landscape nerd 🙂
As the ray of light broke the rhythm of the lines inside the canyon, it emphasized how beautiful this picture is. The human eye goes up and down as that ray of sunshine ushers in. The downward movements of the sand added a theatrical look.
