Back from Colombia

So, we left Colombia today and are now back in Quito. I can definitely say with certainty that Colombia is the first country on this trip that I wish we hadn`t left yet….in other words, I wasn`t ready to go. We did the scuba course, and then spent a few days in a nearby national park, El Parque Tayrona. The beaches were beautiful, and reminded us all of something you would see in a movie, or even in Jurassic Park! Lots of deserted beaches with palm trees and jungle covered hills crashing into the shore. Beautiful. Unfortunately, the accomodations at the park were not the best, and the staff was kind of rude. Aaron also finally got a bout of “South American sickness” so that made him a little uncomfortable for a few hours….not to worry though. He promptly took some medicine (this was the second time, since he threw it up the first time), and then fell asleep, sprawled, on the beach in the surf for a few hours…..he got burned, but we got a good laugh as bewildered tourists stepped over his body as they searched out their own spot in the sand. Good laughs!

Anyway, our diving instructor burned all of our diving photos to CDs for us, so as promised, here are a bunch of the scuba diving pictures….few of me, few of Steve, one of aaron, one of a fish I liked, and one of the boat that Steve and I did a wreck dive on. Enjoy!!!

Heather, you lucky dog. Your dad e-mailed me your blog page so now instead of listening to him go on for hours about your travels, I can see first hand what your up to. How cool is this, you finally got around South America, I’m so proud of you and Steve. I love the picture of the Sloth. Hope you have a safe and adventurous trip. I’ll be keeping up on your blog page to see what is next.

Could you imagine what it would cost to learn to scuba in the usa?
