So, this is gonna be quick and you’ll understand why in a second…..but I am back from Haiti!
Y’all, I had the absolute most unbelievable experience and I can’t wait to share it with you. However, it has also been one of the most thought-provoking and intense trips of my life and quite honestly, I’m not ready to put everything into words. I’m working on it and I plan on getting a pen to paper next week….so be prepared because there will definitely be MANY posts!
My flight was supposed to land at midnight last night but because of various airline issues that you’ll read about later, Angel and I spent the night in the Dulles airport. Let me tell you HOW cozy that was after a full day of flights!

| In addition to being uncomfortable, it was flipping cold! |

| Somehow Angel was able to sleep in this morning! |
We finally managed to catch a flight back to Denver this morning (on a whopping 2 hours of sleep!) and landed around noon. Unfortunately, I also needed to get our company’s W-2 forms out to all of our employees, so I literally drove straight from the airport to the office. I spent all afternoon taking care of the tax stuff before finally heading home around 5pm this evening.
Y’all, I am so exhausted that I can’t even put it into words!
The kicker is that I need to rally shortly because I need to pack up my suitcases for round two! For those of you that don’t know, I am headed to the Winter Outdoor Retailer (OR) show tomorrow. Basically, all of the outdoor gear companies congregate in Salt Lake to show off the gear that they have coming out next year. I’ve set up a few appointments with various companies to check some of the stuff out, so I am pretty excited. I was also happy to find out that my little ol’ blog qualified for a media pass all on its own, so I didn’t need to use one of the passes that were offered to me by other companies. It’s the little things, you know?
I’ll be in SLC until Sunday morning when I will then head to Targhee Resort in Wyoming! GeigerRig is hosting a blogger/media get together and I was lucky enough to be invited. I know we’ll be spending our days skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, but that’s about all the info I have for now. I’m very excited….but I am also in panic mode about packing. Good thing I just cleaned out all my closets, right?!
I’ll try to continue blogging through SLC and Targhee so that I can jump right into Haiti stories next week. I don’t return till Tuesday night, but I’ll fit it all in somewhere!
And y’all, I promise that they will be good….
…..I mean, this is what my foot looks like as of today. Word to the wise? Try to avoid sea urchins. They cause nothing but problems!

That does sound like an adventure – both that you just had and that you are about to embark on!! Glad to hear that you are back safe. Safe travels to SLC and Wyoming. Can’t wait to read your recap of Haiti.
Oh my! I can’t believe you had an encounter with a sea urchin! I’ve been taken advantage of by a few jelly fish in my day, but nothing too debilitating that I can recall.
I always sleep in the airports (but that’s just because I nap EVERYWHERE)….the last time I actually had to spend the night in an airport was ages ago in Denver. I think we got snowed in or something. Not fun.
Hope you have a good second trip! Get some rest so you don’t get sick!
omg!! what a crazy, crazy couple of weeks for you! hope you have an IV drip of coffee while you recover! can’t wait to hear/see everything you’ve been up to and will be up to!
You’re definitely taking advantage of your off months. I think you need to go into Buzzbomb Mode AKA Heidi Mode. Go, go, go! You’ve got this my friend. As for the sea life and sleeping in airports, I’ve done neither and have no desire to add them to my reverse bucket list. Happy travels!
The adventure continues – welcome back and bon voyage!
Wow–you are on a whirlwind! Congrats on getting all these great opportunities! Very cool. And so glad you had an awesome experience in Haiti. Can’t wait to hear about it!
Welcome back! I had to do that once in 2009 and it was HORRIBLE and you know that thing where the Sudanese pirates were attacking people? It was on the news while I was dozing in the airport and I woke up like “I had the weirdest dream that pirates were REAL and the news was reporting about them!” and I was so jet lagged it was like 2 days before I knew that actually did happen.
I bet you are having a wonderful day of flights today as well if you are coming into SLC–they just closed the airport because of all our crazy freezing rain! Hope you travel safe. You are totally in my neck of the woods! I’m so jealous; we usually make it to the OR show, but didn’t qualify for passes this year. Enjoy it–it’s pretty awesome!
Also, Targhee is the ski resort of choice for all my hometown buddies. Have fun!
SO SO many amazing things going on, so excited for you!!!!!
