See that crazy monkey? That is me!
Wow, I think I have finally done it. I think I have finally pushed myself to a point where my body is rebelling! This summer has been so ridiculously busy between school and work and my grandma visiting and Angel’s wedding and visiting Steve and my sister moving and training for all of my races that I think it has finally gone into a stage of rebellion. This weekend was no exception to the busy clause, however. I went out with a girlfriend on Friday night, did a nice long run Saturday morning, helped host Angel’s bridal shower Saturday afternoon and long into the evening, and then played in a six-hour charity kickball tournament all yesterday (more on that in a sec!) When I came back, my grandma was having some stomach issues and we worried for awhile that we were going to have to take her to the ER. She is fine and everything is ok, but needless to say, I did not get the sleep I needed to recover and I woke up today about ready to die. I had this happen once before in college when I just got too busy and pushed myself too far and I ended up wicked sick. As of now, I have an infection on my arm, a weird skin issue that is sending me to the doctor today, and as of this weekend, a bruised heel bone that is making walking fairly unbearable. I am not sick yet, but I think it is heading my way if I am not careful. I think the Bolder Boulder, the Steamboat half marathon, and the tri last weekend might be my limit this summer and the Steamboat tri is gonna have to go…..sad 🙁
Now that I am done with the whining, I do want mention the kickball tournament yesterday cause it was a lot of fun! It was the first annual Kick For A Cause tournament and I played for a team that was benefiting Creative Perspectives, a local non-profit that works with autistic children. How fitting, right? There were teams there from Children’s Hospital, Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen, etc. and everyone was great. For a Facebook thrown-together team, we did pretty good and I think we ended up 3rd overall. Whit liked to say that we would have medalled had that been an option 🙂 In short, caught up with some old friends and enjoyed an active day in the sun–not too shabby!
