Instead of starting my own soap opera, I went to the gym. It’s kinda like Days of our Lives there anyway, with all the fancy women strutting around everywhere. I had one do walking lunges around my treadmill today. Literally, in a circle around the bank of treadmills. That was entertaining for a good 10 minutes.
And you know what kills me? I just can’t seem to get this weather situation worked out! I tried running outside yesterday in order to avoid the dreaded treadmill, and it turned out to be frigid and far too cold for my lungs. Today, I decided to be all smart and avoid making that mistake twice. I promptly headed to the gym in order to ensure I got a good workout in.
And then I walked out to sunshine and 39*. Argh. Seriously, will someone teach me about the weather reports??

On the bright side, it was a pretty decent run considering it was only 25 minutes long. I stole it from Julia and I’m pretty psyched about it. I saw her post her workout on Daily Mile the other day and it looked intense. Basically, it was an incline ladder (only I modified it to be shorter since A) I’m not as tough as she is and B) I ran out of time. Studying calls!)
Regardless, I have learned that I could probably stand to run up a few more hills! When I got to the one minute at 5% incline, I was sucking wind like nobody’s business!! I was actually giggling a little bit to myself as well, all while watching my hr monitor. I had just read a post yesterday at The Purple Giraffe, and she had been talking about how gym machines often over estimate the calorie burn (true). Well, in my case today, the treadmill was UNDERESTIMATING my calorie burn! According to my hr monitor, I burned 282 calories over 2.25 miles (thank you massive inclines). The machine said I was at a measly 220.
