It’s been a bit, I know! Things just really haven’t been that noteworthy I suppose. Or maybe I’ve become lazy. Hmmm, not sure. Either way!
Work is finally calming down which is absolutely glorious. I have just enough time to catch my breath before my tri next weekend, and I must admit–I am starting to get NERVOUS! I’m doing the Loveland Lake to Lake which is an Olympic distance tri. Not exactly the easy breezy sprint distances I’ve been doing up until this point. See, the thing is with a sprint tri, I know I can finish and do reasonably well. I’m in decent enough shape 1.5-2 hrs of racing isn’t that big of a deal. The Lake to Lake, however, is a whole separate ball game! The swim is a mile, which when I think about, sound fairly excruciating 🙂 I don’t overly love swimming and it is definitely my weak leg of the race. The goal is to survive. No speed times, just make it out of the water without grabbing a kayak or sinking like a rock to the bottom of the lake! Other than that, I hope think the race will be okay. The rest constitutes a 30 mile bike and a 10k run. The biking leg is typically my fave portion of any tri but I’ve heard this course is a bit brutal and is a lot of hill climbing. I’m heading up to Loveland this Saturday with Meg to bike the course once just so I know what to expect….and dread!
Other than the typical nerves, not a lot is going on! Went down to D-town on Saturday to catch up with some old friends and watch the World Cup. I’m like any other bandwagon fan and was really excited to watch the USA-England game. TIE!!
In other news, I spoke with my friend Jagger yesterday who definitely is just as nomadic–if not more so!–as I am. He and his girlfriend are trying to put together some type of trip this winter and they were thinking possibly a sailing/backpacking trip around the Virgin Islands. Quite a few of us are certified to dive, so we were thinking we could just get our own dive boat together. Sounds like it would be quite a lot of fun and funny enough, I’ve never really spent much time in the Caribbean (aside from a week in Puerto Rico). Hopefully it will work out and we can all play in the sun!
