Just a Colorado Gal

Colorado Floods

I truly meant to continue with my Alaska posts this week, but obviously, the weather threw us a curveball here in Colorado and this week has not been what I was expecting.

I’ve received lots of messages, tweets, and emails checking in on Will, Tals and me, and I’m super thankful. I really appreciate the concern from each one of you! We’re fine and much luckier than the people you see on the news. Yes, we do live in the general area where all hell has broken loose but fortunately, we’re on the outside perimeter. Basically, people 10-15 minutes away from us are those that you see on the news while we are tucked in our house, nice and dry. Doesn’t seem fair.

Ten minutes north of me

I have friends that live in areas that flooded and I’ve spent lots of time checking in on them. Thus far, they are doing fine and only one family’s house has been completely flooded; they stepped out for a few hours and returned to a house filled with four feet of water. Can you imagine?

Again, thanks to everyone for checking in on my little Colorado family. The rains are continuing through today, but gradually dwindling as the evening approaches. We’ve been under a flood watch for the past three days, but as of now, the stream across from our house hasn’t overflowed…thankfully!

Remember where I went trail running on Sunday? This was the road I drove to get to the trailhead

If you want to help or contribute in any way, I’ve been told that Help Colorado Now is the best place to go.

Have a great weekend everyone, and I’ll catch you on Monday.
