Just a Colorado Gal

Columbia’s Project Z

Remember way back in April when I got some exciting mail? My friends, the fun time has finally arrived!

I am flying out this Friday to Sedona, AZ, to meet up with the other nine members of Columbia’s OmniTen. The crew of us has never met, but we’ve all tried our best to get to know each other via Twitter and Facebook. Regardless, I have never been more excited in my life for a vacation with strangers!

From the sounds of it, I’m one of the last of the group to arrive in Sedona on Friday afternoon. We have a small get together on Friday evening before the excitement kicks off on Saturday!

Sedona!

All of us were given the choice between three activities for Saturday: hiking, yoga, or mountain biking. I went back and forth for a long time and drove Columbia’s PR man crazy with my indecision. In the end, I chose “moderate” mountain biking. Now, I’m not entirely sure what “moderate” entails by Arizona MTB standards, but I’m sure I’ll come back with some epic stories to share with y’all!

According to the itinerary, Sunday morning dawns bright and early so we can all pack up in the vans and hit the road. To where, you ask?

Havasu Falls! We arrive at the trailhead around lunch time and will spend the next couple of hours hiking into our campsite. This Havasu trek is the exact reason I did not choose hiking as my Saturday activity; this way, I get to enjoy BOTH!

Monday is filled with day hikes around the Havasu area before we head back to Phoenix on Tuesday evening. I’m actually going to *try* to get a long run in on Wednesday morning since my flight doesn’t leave until that afternoon, but we’ll see how that pans out. According to weather reports, I’m looking at 100-110* temperatures this weekend! YOWZA! If that’s the case, I may be attempting a 14 miler on the good ol’ treadmill at the hotel!

Y’all, this Columbia/Mountain Hardwear event could not have come at a better time for me! Work has been hectic and although we are finally winding down, I am so ready to head out into the desert and try out some new gear!!

PS In case you’re wonder, no, I am NOT bringing my laptop to Sedona with me! Y’all will just have to wait with baited breath until I get back 🙂

Have you been to Sedona or Havasu before? Any tips to share?!

If you could go on any vacation in the whole world right now, where would it be?
