A year ago, I was completely unfamiliar with compression and how it could help me. In fact, I even wrote a post last summer, searching for some advice. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to try out different brands and different items to help me decide on what works best for me. I sure didn’t know it last year, but compression apparently comes in socks, calf sleeves, arm sleeves, shorts and tights. You name it and someone makes it!
Since then, I’ve decided on a few things. First of all, I really like compression for recovery but it doesn’t do much for me during a workout. I know a lot of runners prefer to use compression socks during races but I’m not one of them. In fact, I don’t love wearing any type of knee socks (Yes, Crossfitters world-wide will gasp at that!) Because of my jacked up feet (hello, bunions!), I have to run in toe socks. Otherwise, I get mad blisters between my toes. However, I seem to be the minority on that one, so we’ll move right along.
(Actually, now that I think about it, I should totally try compression sleeves, huh?)
Secondly, I was recently afforded the opportunity to try out some PRO Compression socks and I was psyched. I’ve heard about Pro Compression from numerous runners and it has always been glowing remarks. These seem to be the favorite compression socks of many, so I couldn’t wait to see if my opinion match.
For the record? It definitely does.
I’m a big fan of putting on compression socks after a long run or a grueling Crossfit workout when I know I’m going to be sore the next day. For me, the compression really seems to help my legs recover. I get lots of knots in my calves from running in minimalist shoes, so the compression in that area is especially important to me. I really like PRO Compression socks because they just feel tighter than some of the other socks I’ve tried. When I run my hand over my calf while wearing the socks, it feels like all of my muscles and skin are held in, nice and tight. I feel like that’s how compression should feel!
Know what else? PRO Compression socks come in fun colors. Not to be a girl or anything, but I feel like that is a critical element! Obviously, I received both pink and white (pink, for the win!), but I looked at their site and they have lots of fun colors. They even have a fun one for the holidays!

I was provided with the socks as part of a FitFluential campaign. Opinions expressed are my own.
