Critical Pumpkin Crisis!!!!!!!!

Ok, I need help IMMEDIATELY. Like, this is a pure, out-and-out crisis. More important than the homework I’m not doing currently.

HAS ANYONE BOUGHT PUMPKIN AT THE GROCERY STORE RECENTLY??!

 Let me explain.

Last night, I got in (another) baking mood, and decided to hop over to Pbfingers to make her delicious-looking pumpkin muffins. Anyway, I happened to have one can of pumpkin left from Thanksgiving last year because I always make pumpkin pie (and no, pumpkin does NOT go bad so it is perfectly fine that I used a year-old can!) I made the muffins, and yes, they were absolutely scrumptious. I dumped a bunch of chocolate chips in the recipe, added some chia seeds, and topped each microwaved muffin off with a bit of peanut butter. Perfect.

Anyway, when I was at the grocery store yesterday, I decided to buy a few more cans of pumpkin since it’s fall and I want pumpkin on everything. Puts me in the spirit! Oddly enough, I couldn’t find any in the store. I asked the clerk when I checked out and she told me that they (King Soopers) COULDN’T CARRY PUMPKIN ANYMORE!!! She said that they struggle to keep it on the shelves and it’s very hard to find it at any grocery store these days. She also added that she had just moved here from South Carolina, and her branch in SC couldn’t carry it either. In other words, no more pumpkin in stores.

Here’s the thing– if that’s true, I am absolutely traumatized….but I’m not sure if I’m buying it. I didn’t go to another store just to check this info, but I am definitely curious. So……

Have any of you bought pumpkin any time recently??? Or is my grocery store cashier on crack? (And if you say that you bought some recently and you’re in another state or country, I will happily send you many pennies so you can afford to ship me boxes and boxes of canned pumpkin straight to my home!)
