Whew! Life is ramping up and while it is all very good, it’s hard to stop spinning! I’ve had to make a concerted effort this week to catch up on life and see friends and family. Between Father’s Day, my Mom’s birthday on Tuesday and then an early birthday dinner last night for my best friend, we’ve been doing a lot of eating.
Fortunately, all the domestic stuff has a payoff: playtime! We’re also planning tons of outdoor adventures for the summer and just thinking about some of the plans gets me eager to pack up my backpack and hit the road. So, what’s going on in my life?

I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s Crested Butte trip! I’m partnering up with the Crested Butte-Gunnison tourism board for a fun-filled weekend of mountain biking.
Gulp. Mountain biking!
MTB used to be my jam in my late 20s; I rode all the time and I would always choose two wheels rather than two feet. But then, I got old and the crashes started to hurt a bit more! Thankfully, Will has never been much for mountain biking so we convinced the PR peeps that beginner-friendly trails really were a good idea.
Here’s to hoping beginner actually equals beginner!
It’s Bike Week in Crested Butte, so there should be plenty of talented riders around; I can oggle their talents from the baby singletrack. Aside from two wheeled-fun, we’re also checking out a local rum distillery and some restaurants. I’m really looking forward to a weekend in the mountains after spending the past month in the city!

I competed in my first-ever CrossFit comp this past weekend…and survived! I signed up for The Schoolyard Showdown, a small local event. Truth be told, I was scared shitless going into it. So many strong people! So many heavy weights!
In the end, it was absolutely exhilarating and I’m already scouring the internet for another one in the fall. I’ll share the story in more detail next week, but let me just say this: my shoulder were sore for THREE DAYS!

Will and I are spending far more of our wedding planning time planning our honeymoon. That’s normal, right?!
As of now, it looks like we are going on two honeymoons. Our official honeymoon won’t be until next winter when my business is closed for the season. It’s a lot easier for me to get away for long periods of time and I know that will work better. We’re pretty sure we know where we’re going, but I’m going to keep that under wraps until it’s confirmed.
But, we also have our other honeymoon: the Kurgo road trip to Canada! I keep thinking that September is so far away, but according to our wedding countdown, it’s not. {Weird.} As such, we’re poking around trying to find the perfect vehicle to use for our drive to the Great White North.
Ideally, I’m hoping to find a sweet campervan and I’ve been communicating with the owner of a rental company. She rents Volkswagon campervans that look SO COOL! Plus, I like the idea of the extra space for Tals while we are driving. That said, we are also eyeballing an Airstream or even a simple pop-up. This kind of travel is new to us, so we’re not entirely sure what is better. I suspect we’ll have more mobility with the Campervan, but Airstreams are kind of awesome, so….any suggestions?

I’m going to Mexico!
Y’all, I can’t even remember the last time I was in Mexico! Actually, that’s a lie; it was back in 2007 when I backpacked around Baja with a girlfriend from Steamboat. Needless to say, it’s been a hot minute!
I was contacted by a tourism board representing Loreto, Mexico, a small town located on the Baja peninsula. According to Wikipedia, Loreto was the first Spanish settlement on the peninsula, so I imagine there is some cool history.
We’ll be staying at the beautiful Villa de Palmar Resort and Spa, which looks absolutely stunning. But even better? The trip is FILLED with adventure sports! Deep sea fishing, hiking, glass-bottom kayaking and trail running are all on the potential agenda. My flights heads out on July 15, so it really isn’t that far away…thankfully!

MEXICO!!! Oh man! I miss Mexico! (And it’s only been three months, ha.)
There is so much goodness in your life (even if it makes things a bit busy) that it just makes me smile. 🙂
That is AMAZING! Two honeymoons and Mexico…ok I’m pretty jealous. My world is not terribly exciting, but I did teach adults today, which was terrifying.
Excited to read your recap on Crested Butte. We’ll be there next weekend, and I’ve only ever been there in winter!
Wow it all sounds so exciting!
I completely understand about planning more for the honeymoon!
We had a very small wedding that we didn’t really need to plan too much for so that we could have a bigger, better honeymoon. We were so happy that we did it that way.
I’m excited to read all about your upcoming events!
Wow Heather, that’s a lot of great adventure coming up for you. I’m still planning on OR Show, hiking and whitewater rafting in Idaho, and maybe a family trip to Mt Rushmore in the fall.
Oh my – so many good things going on for you – very exciting!! 🙂
That’s awesome! Congratulations to you and happy late birthday to your mom. Well, I just gave my two weeks notice at work and I’ll be doing some traveling along with my GF for the next year 🙂 Mexico sounds exciting! I’ll be going there too, but until September. Just in time for indipence day 🙂
All these adventures look amazing! I can’t wait to hear more about where you will be going on your second honeymoon! We took more time planning our honeymoon than our wedding too! Definitely worth it!
