A Day in the Life…..of Me!

As SUAR says, life is really made up of the little, everyday moments. And she is totally right. The majority of the time, my blog doesn’t even mention by day-to-day activities because I always assume that no one wants to read about them; that my mundane rituals are not interesting to anyone except maybe my mother. (Actually, my mom doesn’t read my blog. Scratch that! Maybe my sis is interested in them? I know she reads!) Anyway, after reading Beth’s “day in the life” posts, I realized that probably isn’t the case. People follow blogs because they are interested in the person; and although I find it hard to believe anyone is interested in me, I’m willing to give it a try!

My Saturday morning began at 2am when I awoke to Tals making some awesome retching sounds. I don’t know what she ate on Friday night, but it was definitely disgusting as it sat in lumpy piles all over my  bed. I’d provide you with pictures but a) I was too busy gagging at 2:15am as I cleaned it up and threw my comforter in the washer and b) who really wants to see pics of dog puke?! If you do, sick. You’ve got issues 🙂

The culprit laying in my bed after the incident. She looks sneaky, doesn’t she?

I finally managed to fall back asleep around 3am, and as I dozed off, I listened to the rain/sleet outside smack into my bedroom window. I knew Saturday was supposed to be dreary and the sound of the weather made me smile. There is nothing better than waking up or falling asleep to the sound of rain outside. It’s calming.

I really got up for the day around 6am, and debated going for a cold and wet run as I drank my usual cup of creamer with coffee. Around 9am, I thought I’d give it a try and headed out with Tals. Yuck! Although I did get to take my new Garmin out, it was so cold and wet, and although it had only been misting when I left, it started downright pouring when I was about a mile out. By the time we straggled back home, my hands were numb, my head was dripping water into my face, and my skin was tingling pink with the chilliness of the outdoors. I climbed into the shower and sat down –yes, I sat in the shower! — for 30 minutes until sensation returned to my poor little body. Lesson learned; winter is coming so dress appropriately!!

After that debacle with the great outdoors, I decided I could tackle anything; this included the mattress sitting in my dining room. As I’ve mentioned, my sis is moving to Hawaii and since shipping costs are so high, I’m getting a lot of her large items. She has a brand new mattress that she is leaving behind, so I was happy to take it off her hands. It’s  been sitting in my dining room all week until I could muster the energy and strength to switch it with my old mattress, and then put my old set in my garage.

My mattress storing area aka my dining area

 Fail.

The negatives with living alone? Moving large, heavy objects SUCKS!!! Seriously. Especially mattresses. You see, if it was something huge like a dresser, I would obviously not stand a chance and would not have even made the attempt. A mattress, on the other hand, is elusive. It makes you think that it’s doable until it flops over into your $1000 television and almost takes out a row of your house plants. It was all I could do to get it back into my dining room where it still sits. Staring at me. And probably giving me the finger.

Between the run and my mattress lifting, I was spent! After spending 15-20 minutes on the couch, looking at some greenhouse inventory for some installation designs for work on Monday, I decided to call it a day. Yes, it was like 5pm but I’m not ashamed. Plus, I realized that a new season of Law and Order: SVU was on Netflix streaming! Jackpot!!! I can readily admit that I sat on the couch for the rest of the night, chilling with Tally and watching episode after episode of SVU. I may or may not have finished the entire season 🙂

The greenhouse full of flowers

So there you have it! Thrilling? Not really? Full of excitement and exhiliration? Hardly. But that was my Saturday, and I’m sticking to it!

Do you have a unique aspect to your daily routine? Something that you consider normal that may be interesting to others?

Moving mattresses is the worst! I admit that I had a mattress related crying breakdown last time I moved.

I frequently see coyotes on my bike commute to work. I’ve even seen a bear a couple of times! That’s probably pretty unusual.

Love this!! Thanks for playing along. I have a friend who always sits in the shower. I need to give that a try.

I’ve sat in the shower before….it’s okay to waste water now and then for the benefit of not losing your limbs!!! Why don’t you get your parents to help with the mattress??? They live right down the road!!!

I love to sit in the shower as well, bad habit. The environment hates me!

Hahah, the mattress in your dining room is making me laugh. Considering I have two bikes and all my daughter’s college stuff in mine :).

This was fun, thanks for sharing!
