Yesterday, I took a beautiful picture of my view from my Waikiki 24Hour Fitness treadmill.
Not too shabby of a view for a treadmill run, right?!
However, I had so many of you ask, in maybe a few more words, “what the hell I was doing on a treadmill while in Waikiki?!” And I get it– I would think the same! So let me explain.
While in Kauai, I did all of my run outside except for the one at the death-hot gym. However, Kauai has way less people that Oahu, and the Poipu area is pretty calm. Waikiki, on the other hand, is absolutely not.
I’ve noticed while walking around Waikiki the past few days that there are seriously about one million people here– the streets are jam packed! Obviously, tourists from around the world flock to Honolulu and the streets definitely show signs of all of this action. It makes it even trickier just because so many of the tourists are from different countries and of course, this leads to even more weird behavior on the streets. Needless to say, I would never even attempt to run down at the beach– it would be an exercise in bobbing and weaving!
Luckily, my sis lives across the street from a canal with a path. Now that I know where I am in this city, I think I’ll give that a try for manana!
