Just a Colorado Gal

Friday Favorites

Every so often, I feel the urge to share some of my latest loves with y’all…and today is one of those days! So, without further ado, here is my list of randoms that I am seriously loving.

1. LiveLoveDIY

I danced on my high school team with Virginia, the author of this blog, but I never realized she was so talented! She authors posts about DIY home renovations on the cheap, and I am seriously in awe of the stuff she creates. She can take a can of spray paint and rework her entire kitchen to look like a page from Crate and Barrel. Seriously. If you’re looking for inspiration, check out her blog. You won’t regret it!

2. Reebok PWR Pants

PWR Pants on the left, my Nanos on the right. I was Crossfit bound!

I’m not typically a fan of boot cut pants for my workouts, unless they are for yoga, but the Reebok PWR pants have started to change my mind (I’m even wearing them now as I type this post!) Usually, the bottom of the pant leg tucks into my shoe and drives me crazy, but these pants are just long enough that they don’t do that. Plus, they are wicked stretchy and cozy and honestly, I don’t ever take them off. Workout, lounging, errands, whatever—I’ve been wearing them everywhere!

3. Montane Featherlite Down Jacket

I met the Montane PR rep when I was in SLC for Outdoor Retailer last month, and I was very impressed with the quality of their products—along with the prices! Montane is a British company and most of their outdoor gear is wicked light and fairly inexpensive, especially when compared to competitor prices. They offered to send me some gear to try out so I took the Featherlite along with me on the hut trip. I’m not going to offer up my final opinion just yet, but I can give y’all the advanced screening by telling you that I am totally digging this coat! It is so light (haha, like a feather!) and packs down to the size of a grapefruit. In addition to that, it is shockingly warm and comes with a hood. My other down jacket doesn’t have a hood, and I really missed having one to help keep the chill away. Looking forward to testing this out more in the coming month!

4. Mizuno Wave Rider 16

An easy jog in Mission Gorge, outside of San Diego

I’ve read so many rave reviews regarding the Wave Riders, but had yet to take the plunge until recently. In fact, I had originally been eyeballing the Elixirs but couldn’t justify the expense of yet another pair of running shoes. However, I was fortunate enough to win a pair of Wave Rider 16s during a Twitter chat, so I was psyched to give them a try. Again, I’m not going to offer up my final opinion on these shoes until I’ve put some more miles on them, but I am shocked at how much I am loving them. I’ve been mixing them into the rotation with my Brooks Pure Cadence and I’m totally liking the system I’ve got going on.

5. Toms

I may have been the last person on the face of the planet to actually purchase some Toms shoes, but holy cow, am I in love! Will actually bought me a pair when I was out in San Diego a few weeks ago, and those suckers haven’t come off my feet ever since. They are so comfy and versatile! If you’re like me and are a little late to hop on this bandwagon, take my advice and actually go into the store to purchase them. I was just going to buy some online, but Will convinced me to go to Nordstrom’s instead (since that is the only department store that carries them). I am so glad that I listened to him because the sizes vary like crazy—I ended up purchasing a size 7 instead of my usual 8.5!

6. My New Blog

Yes, I did just link back to myself! I know my blog is still a work-in-progress and I am still working out a lot of kinks that came along with the move to self-hosted. However, I am already loving the freedom that the transfer has afforded me, and I’m totally digging the way it looks. Definitely money well spent!

7. Got2B Dry Shampoo

I’ve mentioned this in the past, but I need to reiterate my love affair with this particular brand of shampoo. I have tried zillions of brands (and no, that isn’t an exaggeration!) and this one is my all-time fave. In fact, I typically only wash my hair once or twice a week now since I am so happy with how this stuff does on the other days! It’s super cheap too—like $5 or $6—so I don’t feel guilty about purchasing it all the time. Even better? We found it on sale at the grocery store last week, so I got the chance to stock up and buy SIX bottles. I mean, you can’t blame me, right?!
