Anyway, this morning I decided that I was feeling a bit of randomness coming on, so by default, that includes today’s blog post! Besides, I always enjoy others’ posts when they detail random facts about themselves: it kinda gives you a bit more insight into who they are outside of blog world, you know?!
Some randomness about me:
1. I’m actually kinda crafty. Now, I’m not all creative in the way that this gal is, but both of my grandmothers taught me some serious skills with the needle when I was a kid. As a result, I now am able to quilt, crochet, knit, cross stitch, and needlepoint. Weird, huh? Grams started teaching me to crochet when I was like 8 and I went on to participate in both crocheting and cross stitch in 4-H. Swear. Even better? I qualified for the state fair with my crocheting skills, and even made my parents, my best friend, and my ex-boyfriend quilts when I was in college.
How’s that for random?!
2. My favorite magazine in the whole world is Outside. I’ve been a subscriber for well over 10 years, and I still love it. They have the perfect combination of outdoors sports, environmental stuff, and serious awesome adrenaline-filled features. There is a story this month about the 2012 Everest season since it was the 3rd deadliest in the peak’s history. That stuff fascinates me!
Side note: I’m actually kind of a magazine whore. In addition to Outside, I subscribe to Runner’s World, Backpacker, Cycling, and Skiing. I like to read!

Know what else made this fun fact even more delightful? I got my magazine in the mail yesterday, and settled into bed last night to read it. Let me tell you how bizarre it was to flip to page 44 and see Neon Blonde Runner on the top of the page! She was one of the first blogs I ever read, so I kinda feel like I “know” her. I have famous internet friends! 🙂
3. I came home to a surprise bouquet of flowers yesterday! Totally made my day even though it took me all evening to figure out who they were from!
4. I literally have one of the most exciting adventures of my life being planned as we speak. How’s that for a cliff hanger? I can’t give y’all the details just yet, but rest assured — I am beyond ecstatic about what is being planned and I can’t wait to share it with you. If all goes smoothly, I will be looking at an epic journey filled with adrenaline, adventure, endurance, and the outdoors!

I don’t subscribe to any magazines anymore. I’d like to subscribe to the Atlantic again some day…
I have gone digital with my newspaper though! I can’t get the NYT delivered in rural Idaho (shocker, right?!) so I get it on the Kindle. <3 it.
Can’t wait to hear more about this grand adventure you’re planning!
#1 Thanks for the compliment!!! I actually clicked on your link to see who you thought was creative. 🙂
#2 I can’t wait to see your skills. I think it’s amazing that you know how to do all that. I tried to crochet a scarf once, and it was a hot mess.
#3 Who are the flowers from??? They are beautiful.
#4 How are you liking your Kindle?? I love mine. I find it so inconvenient to actually have to flip pages in a book now, or old the book a certain way because the spine interfering with the way it opens!
#5 I only look at magazines for the pictures!!
Flowers shall remain a blog secret for the time being 🙂
Outside is simply the best, hands down! The best writing, topics and photography. I love it!
And I envy your craftiness–that gene passed me right on by!
Outside is a good magazine and I have been known to read men’s health and runners world. I find when I get a subscription to a magazine I din’t get into as much as I did when I didn’t have a subscription…interesting huh? So now I just save magazines for when I travel or need something different to read (other than game of thrones lol)
Whoops, I knew I forgot a magazine subscription! I get Women’s Health too 🙂 I love that one!
What don’t you know about me? I’m sure there’s something. Gotta think about this one.
I’m excited to hear about your upcoming adventure!!!
Random fact – I’m obsessed with all things pumpkin. if it has pumpkin in it, i’ll eat it 🙂
I subscribe to fitness and runners world. The same thing happened to me when I saw skinny runner in runners world
I love random fun fact posts. Def didn’t know all that knitting stuff about you… haha.. that’s so awesome. Who were the flowers from??
Random fact: when I do any form of cardio, I always count the beats of music on my fingers. Lots of people at the gym always think I’m pointing at them.
Ah my name came up weird. For the record, it’s Jen
AAAAACK thanks for the shout-out!!! You’ll always be one of my bloggie bffs from the beginning! You’re so darn supportive, love ya 🙂
I subscribe to a ton and I have DOZENS that I haven’t read! I basically only read them on the elliptical, which I use like 3 times a year. I’m so smart. I should bring them tomorrow on my plane trip to CA but I’m deep into Games of Thrones so….
Amazing on the quilting! That’s hard stuff!
