The mountain biking was sweeeeeeeeeeeet! We did an easy ride on Saturday because Craig has had some recent weirdness with his heart and we wanted to make sure that he was going to be okay to ride. Luckily he was, and we had a great ride.
We decided to try out the Lower and Upper Loops that are beginner trails that leave from downtown Crested Butte. They were very easy, not super technical, and only had a few smaller climbs. I couldn’t get over how beautiful everything was!! Wildflowers were in bloom and the sky was soooooo blue!
We got to eat lunch up top by this waterfall area that was really shady and comfortable–it was definitely nice to get out of the sun because my bike shorts tan lines are already developing!!
On Sunday, Megan was having some stomach issues so she stayed back at camp while the rest of us chose a more difficult ride and headed out for the day. Everyone kept telling us “we’d see God” with all of the climbing on this trail, and they sure were not kidding!! We did roughly 1500 feet of climbing in 2.5 miles we all were feeling it!
The kicker was that the 1500 feet was just to the beginning of the trail that we were hoping to ride….but after all that climbing, we decided that lunch sounded better with a nice long ride back down the mountain 🙂
My other favorite part of CB this time of year? WILDFLOWERS!!! The Wildflower Festival is coming up in a few short weekends, so they weren’t quite in peak just yet…but they were still beautiful!!!!!
Like I mentioned, there was definitely some Bad and Ugly portions of the trip that I’ll share later this week…wanted to focus on the good first!!
How was your weekend? What did you do to celebrate the Fourth of July?

Aw, I miss seeing the wildflowers. They are long ago dead to a crisp here. Glad you had a fun trip and made it back safely! After working 4 nights in a row, only having off saturday, and then working suday night. . . .I was so tired on monday that I didn’t even care it was the 4th, so sad to say I didn’t see any fireworks.
