Guess What I Did?

I got to go white water rafting yesterday! It was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

So, if you haven’t heard, this year has been EPIC here in Colorado for rafting. The snow pack was super high this winter and is gradually melting so the water levels have been consistently high all summer. Usually they are so low by now that the GOOD part of rafting season is over….not this year! My friend is the manager of a rafting company and he actually told me that his bookings are down this year, which is the opposite of what I would’ve thought. The reason? People are getting too scared to go because they media is really playing up the danger of the high water. There has even been a death this year, but I heard it was due to inexperience….but ANYWAY 🙂

(This wasn’t us cause I was NOT going to take my camera in the raft…but I definitely think it was even bigger water than this pic shows!)

We headed up to Fort Collins yesterday to raft with my friend on the Poudre River. He took me on the same river last year, but it was entirely different yesterday because of all the water! It was seriously so awesome! The rapids were huge and we were sopping wet immediately, but it didn’t matter cause it was so fun. We did have a swimmer that got knocked out of our raft, but we got him back in quickly and were even able to paddle down stream and catch his oar that had been floating away. Other boats weren’t quite as lucky! A raft behind us hit a water hole the wrong way and a girl fell out of the boat, right into the hole. She recirculated a few times under water before coming up and I think it really scared her. Her boat got her back inside, but I’m sure she was a bit freaked. Can’t say that I blame her! I was very glad my friend is such an awesome guide. We got to enjoy the excitement and adrenaline without having any “Oh S*!t” moments!

Have you ever been white water rafting? Where at? Did you love it?
