I am still finding sand in all sorts of places…

We left Lima a few days ago, and went to Pisco, a town three hours to the south. From there, we went on a tour of the Islas Ballestas, the so-called “poor man´s Galapagos” They were prety cool. There were tons of birds flying around of all different kinds, and there were even a whole bunch of penguins strutting around–little cute fellows (you can see them in the picture) My favorites were the sea lions–there fatness was just endearing to me!

After Pisco, we came to this town Huacachina, an oasis in the middle of the desert. It´s actually pretty crazy to see a real life oasis. We stayed at this hostel called Casa de Arena, and they organize these sandboarding-dune buggy tours, and they were amazingly fun! This is a picture of Steve and our driver. They take you out into the desert, and you fly around on these dune buggies, leaping over the tops of dunes and flying down some steep descents. It was such a good time, and I definitely ate my words when I remembered saying that I wasn´t that interested in it. The sandboarding was a lot trickier, if only because I ski and not board. It was amazing though-you´d fall down, and sand was just get in everywhere–pockets, shoes, ears, socks, EVERYWHERE. I am still finding sand in all sorts of weird places, and I have since jumped in the pool twice, and showered. Pesky stuff We also got some amazing sunset shots, like this one. Way to go Steve and his camera!

Leaving tonight to head to Nazca to see the enigmatic Nazca lines. We are both pretty excited about these, so it should be a lot of fun
