Wanna hear a funny story? I’ll tell you.
These are my toe shoes, as I call them. The exact ones–same brand, color everything. I got them for Christmas and have been gradually breaking myself into wearing them. I’ve heard from so many people that they are awesome but that you have to be careful that you don’t try to go too far, too fast in them cause you calf muscles will kill. This is very true. I’ve been doing my easier 1-2 mile crossfit sprint workouts in them, and although not excruciating, my calves definitely feel it the next day.
So the funny part. Wednesday was a beautiful Colorado day, especially for March, and I got out of work and decided to enjoy the 65 degree temps with a nice run. I took Tals out, thinking I’d go for about 2 miles before coming back and changing into my regular shoes. The problem? I absolutely love these shoes! They make running so much easier and more natural for me, and I definitely don’t have to work as hard to run in them. Needless to say, I was trotting along (cause what I do does NOT qualify as actual running!!), talking to Tals along the way, and before I knew it, I was like 3 miles out. Normally, this would be great–an easy, 6-mile out and back run is always good in my eyes. Problem is that I still had the damn shoes on, so of course, I had to run back. I ended doing all 6 miles in the FiveFingers and I knew I was gonna pay for it! Sure enough, yesterday my calves were killing me and I was in pain. Oh well, no big deal, right?
Welp, I forgot that I am one of those that gets sore two days later….aka today. I tried to stand up out of bed this morning and literally fell over while Tals watched. Swear. And then I tried to walk down the stairs to talk her out and I definitely was gripping the banister. I can seriously not walk. And I manage a landscape company and have to leave for work in 20 minutes. This could pose a serious problem!!!!!!!!!! Have yu ever worked out too hard, and had the “good hurt” that lasts for days and days…..and days?
