I Still Suck

I’m studying my face off, so therefore, I don’t really have any fun stories to share. I went to the track last night to do an interval workout but as fast as I was moving (ha, yeah RIGHT!), I still couldn’t outrun the monsoon rainstorm that blew in.

Hey look, something new! More afternoon storms!

These things have been nuts! Cindy and I made it through 3 of our 5 intervals before we realized that we were, in fact, getting annihilated by the rain. I think the lightning kinda made us question what the hell we were doing out in the open, on the track. With a total of 5 college degrees between the two of us (I’m rounding up since I graduate next year!), you’d think we would be a bit smarter. Nope. Tals didn’t seem to mind though. I think she was hoping I’d count this as a bath for her.

She can grin at me all day long; she is not worming her way out of her bi-annual suds session!

In other, far more exciting news, I’m planning on getting a life again as of Sunday! Actually, even if I’m not done studying by then, I’m still doing something fun….I’m feeling the walls closing in on my apartment 🙂

What is this fun-filled event, you might ask?

The Sawtooth. It’s a ridge that goes between Mt. Bierstadt and Mt. Evans, two different 14ers here in Colorado. (A 14er is a mountain over 14,000 feet). Essentially, to do the ridge, you hike up Mt. Bierstadt, then traverse the Sawtooth, then finish the saddle and hike to the top of Mt. Evans. All in all, I THINK it’s like 10-12 miles and 4-5000 feet of elevation gain. To be honest, I don’t quite remember. This will actually be my 5th summit of Bierstadt and my second of Evans, as well as my second time crossing the Sawtooth. The Sawtooth is considered a “classic” in 14er terms. If I remember correctly, the ridge looks gnarly from the summit of Bierstadt, but is actually a good, solid, and fun class 3 climb. I’m excited 🙂

So basically, even if I am trapped inside for the next 48 hours, I’m still getting out on Sunday!!

What are y’all doing this weekend???

Wow that looks awesome! The longest hike I’ve done(that I know of)was only 7 miles. In my defense though, it was pretty much all uphill.
Hope you have an amazing time soaking up the fresh air 🙂
