Yesterday was not the best day for travel re: me. In short, I spent a grand total of 15 hours in various airports and planes yesterday…and that was only to get from Maine back to Colorado. Ridiculous.
Problem #1: My parents were flying out of Boston and they had the rental car. What this meant was I had to be dropped at the Portland Jetport at noon, approximately 4.5 hours before my flight left. Sucked, yes, but short of renting another car for those few hours, I didn’t have a lot of options. I figured I’d just pull out my laptop and get some studying done.
Yes, that is my suitcase. You see, going through security I remembered that had to get my bag of liquids out. Problem was that I couldn’t get the zipper undone! I yanked and yanked and whoops….broke the damn zipper right off the suitcase. Turns out that no one at TSA could get it back on either, but they did have this handy TSA inspection tape to tape my bag shut. Literally, it was taped shut. Ridiculous. And then I realized that they taped my laptop inside the suitcase, so I sat at Portland for 4.5 hours with no homework to be done. So there was that.
Then, after FINALLY getting to Atlanta, it turns out there awesomely awful lightning and thunderstorm that grounded all the planes. Instead of a 2 hours layover, I had to sit here until 12:30 EST waiting for my plane to Denver.
Shiny floors are nice and all, but after sitting there FOREVER, I was over the shinyness. Long story short, after 15 loooooooooon hours, I finally crawled into bed this morning at 3am. Way past my bedtime. And I fly out again on Thursday for Oregon….so there’s that too. Oy vey!
More to come on the actual vacation!!
Worst airline story ever??

What a nightmare!! I hope the next trip goes more smoothly! I don’t really have any bad airline stories… Either I’m really lucky or have to start travelling more 😉
