I’m Back!!!!!!

I know, you were waiting with bated breath, right?! I’m sure.

Anyway, I got back late last night and I had such a great time! I’m gonna take a cue from my friend Kayla whose vacation recaps are always way more thorough than mine! I’ll split the summary into two parts….starting with Bozeman!!

Seriously, if you haven’t been to Bozeman (or Montana for that matter), go. It is beautiful, and although I’d been to Montana before, I hadn’t ever visited this particular part of the state. We got an early start on Thursday morning and the drive wasn’t too bad. We were already in Cheyenne, WY by 8am so we stopped for breakfast. Did you know that the entire state of Wyoming only has 563,000 people? I can attest to that since I drove through the whole entire thing and pretty much only encountered a lot of dead animals and no people. It was awesome.

We got to Bozeman that evening and went out to dinner and drinks with friends and the wedding party. I was happy to see Friday arrive with a blue sky and the sun was shining – a perfect day for a wedding! I got up and went for a run (my fave way to explore new towns) and checked out the MSU campus. Seriously, did I mention what a pretty town Bozeman is??

Marie’s ceremony was stunning and of course, she looked absolutely beautiful. I cried, per usual. You can’t take me anywhere. Afterwards, we all piled in our cars and headed out of town towards the Gallatin Gateway Inn. It is this beautiful old building set on tons of green grass with mature trees and flowers. The reception was held here, and it was a perfect and classy building for a wedding reception.

I’ll save the Yellowstone/Teton portion for tomorrow. That means you have to read my blog for at least another day, right????!!!

And guess what else? My Garmin arrived over the weekend!! Once I can pick it up from the front office, I’m gonna go get it….so looks like you all will have to stick around for at least a few days to hear about that too 🙂

How’s that for bribery?!

    YAYYYY your Gamin arrived 🙂
It’s a great lil’ tool. Helped me pick up the pace a little, helps me keep track of how my body is feeling at different paces and I learn from it.
    Cute little cottage.
OOh and I love how you got out of your car and took photos at the Montana sign. I always want to do that, but people only entertain my crazy photograph obsession to a certain point!

    I’m Back!

Wicked jet lagged and not really functioning, but I’m back. Everytime I travel somewhere it absolutely amazes me how much jet lag messes with you! Egypt is 9 hours ahead of Colorado time so I’m thinking it will take a few days!

In light of that, I am not really feeling up to writing a whole bunch yet, but I’ll give the basics:
    TOP FIVE HIGHLIGHTS
    1. Riding camels. Very cool even though my butt hurt like hell for a week.
    2. Pyramids of Giza. How could they not be the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen?
    3. The city of Luxor. I actually really enjoyed the place despite all the chaos.
    4. Climbing Mt. Sinai. It’s always fun to get the views from another part of the world.
    5. Realizing Spanish works everywhere. I asked for directions on the street and turns out he only spoke Arabic and Spanish. Coincidence? I think not!

    TOP FIVE NOT-SO-HIGHLIGHTS
    1. Haggling. It was one thing in South America but Egypt takes this to a whole new level. And I can’t even understand what they are saying around me because I don’t understand Arabic. They take the whole “rip off the tourist” game to an entirely new stratosphere
    2. Cab rides. Always a negotiation on price. And then you agree and they harass you the whole day to get more.
    3. The caleche drive at Giza. Brad and him almost came to blows in front of the Great Pyramid. Enough said.
    4. Salt water showers. Major desert environment = not a lot of water in the Sinai. They try to desalinate the water but I walked around feeling very salty for quite a few days 🙂
    5. Constantly getting harassed because I am female. At first, it was fun. Oh, you’ll give my dad 400 camels for me? I look like Claudia Schiffer? Thanks, I like my eyes too, I guess. But when it was happening every 2 feet, I started to be over it. Let me walk in peace, thanks!

All in all, it was a great trip that wetted the appetite for another. I’ll definitely write a better summary soon when I am feeling a little less weird!
