I bought my very own Garmin – FINALLY!
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now, but hadn’t looked into it seriously because, honestly, I didn’t want to fork out the cash for one. But then, yesterday, I got wicked annoyed.
I was throwing on all of my clothes for my run and I had to search out my hr monitor watch, the chest strap, my iPhone, my iPhone armband, and then my headphones if I wanted music. It was just too many things for a simple 30 minute walk run. I’ve always used the Runkeeper app on my phone to track my mileage, but even that hasn’t been impressive. Besides, iPhones are huge and I’m tired of lugging that huge thing on my arm. I don’t have nearly enough biceps for that! In short, I was REALLY wishing that I had one device to track my calories, my miles, my pace, my distance, etc. In short, I was wanting a Garmin.
I had previously emailed Neon Blonde Runner and Hungry Runner Girl and they had both recommended the Garmin 305. I looked it up online and because it is an older model, it was only $138. Totally doable. AND I’m super excited because you can also use it on a bike, which totally makes me happy.
Hooray for impulse purchases!!
Now, is there anyone out here who will show me how to use it??
Do you run with a Garmin??

Niice…I have the same garmin and love it. There are several sites out there that can tell you on how to use it. I just googled what I wanted it to do and bam…someone had the answer!
I love using it for both biking and running. I also have found it handy for mapping trails while hiking. You will definably enjoy it!
I’ve considered getting one, because I LOOOOVE tracking data, but my runs are generally pretty short (ie less than 5 miles), so I just didn’t see the point.
I didn’t realize that you could use it on the bike, though. That might be swaying me, especially for mountain biking where the trails aren’t necessarily marked for mileage.
I have yet to take that plunge for fear of being addicted to my stats. Still thinking about it though!
Yea for Garmin!!! The 305 has gotten pretty cheap! May need to upgrade as mine is even older that! But it still works and I’m cheap. 🙂
