I am in the final day of my thesis. Yes, I said final day, as in singular! I was hoping to finish it up yesterday but Word formatting and I are having a bit of a standoff. For those of you fortunate enough to never have written a scientific research paper, let me fill you in. They have this sneaky set of guidelines and parameters that differs from any other type of paper that you will need to write in this world.
What do I mean by parameters? Different margins, pagination, layout of text with tables, appendices, etc. I thought I was going to be able to finish it yesterday, but lo and behold, my new margins jacked up my pagination, and I got launched into Microsoft Word hell.
But never fear! I have wonderful friends who are helping me as we speak. I will finish this 71-page paper today! I might even take a photo as I stick that big ol’ envelope in the mail, sending it off to my adviser where it will be evaluated, published, and never seen by my again. Ever. Ever. Ever in my whole life. And I’m quite okay with that!
So, in light of this important drama, I’m going to disappear from blog world for the rest of the week. Try not to cry though: I will be back next week with my (hopefully!) anticipated recap of the Warrior Dash, complete with epic GoPro footage. And naturally, lots of other fun stories as well 🙂

I’m working on my thesis too and it’s kicking my butt. I have lots of running and mountain biking on the agenda to prepare for my next races. Good luck finishing and congrats!
Yay! That that crap done so your quality of living can improve!!! And have lots of fun at your party.
I plan on sleeping, working, and sleeping some more…and my mom is coming up to make me chimichanga’s!!!
Are you doing the oyster? One of my friends is doing that this weekend. I am going a little more low key and doing the Retro Run at Sloan’s Lake. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to wear 80’s clothes! Good luck with your thesis and congratulations on being done!!!
I am doing the Oyster! A bit nervous about my knee but I’ve wanted to do it for so long, so I’m going to give it a try!
PS Welcome back to blog land!
Get er done! Hope it goes well and good luck….write away!
What am I doing this weekend? Totally not sure yet. Trying to talk Forrest into going to climb a mountain somewhere. 🙂
Worst thing for school? Oh god. I don’t know. I think I’ve blocked some of the random undergrad general ed classes from my mind. You know, the stuff you didn’t really get anything out of other than excess stress?
Do you have to defend your thesis?
Since it’s an M.Ed and not a science-based degree, I don’t have to defend….luckily!
Yay! The formatting and such of papers and projects is both my favorite and least favorite part of the project. I love making it all perfect but sometimes it makes me want to gouge my eyes out! So glad its done…does this mean you’ll get into the mtns more this winter?! I think there is a WP pass in our future…
Yay! Y’all looking at Copper/WP pass? Cindy and Craig are leaning towards 5 Mountain but I don’t really want that one. Plus, I don’t work all winter, remember? Lots of time to ski!
Good luck finishing everything up! I remember those days well 🙂
Congrats on finishing up! Microsoft word and I fight ALL THE TIME. As you know, I HATE grad school so much. Every time I think I am doing the worst thing, I get assigned something worse. It’s cool though, when I graduate I get a huge race that equates to something like an extra $2.74 per paycheck. Can’t wait.
