I’m a Little Quirky

As I was bustling around my apartment last night, munching on string cheese, I realized that I have gotten used to living by myself. As a result, I have some weird freaking habits that go unnoticed because no one is around to tell me about it!

For example….

#1: String Cheese.
I have a pattern with how I eat string cheese and without fail, it is the same every time. After I unwrap the cheese, I take full-on bite off the top. Then– and only then! — can I proceed to eat the cheese like normal, by stringing pieces off. It just feels wrong if I don’t take that first bite!

#2: My Running Shoe Lineup.
As y’all have read before, I have quite the lineup of shoes. In particular, I have four or five pair of running shoes. However, for some reason I don’t put them in the closet or on the shoe rack with all of my other shoes. Instead, I like to keep my running shoes lined up in a little row, right next to my sliding glass door.

Why? I have no idea. Maybe I think I’m going to need to flee out my back door and want to make sure I have running shoes to grab on the go?!

#3: Tortilla Chip Problem.
I always buy this particular brand of blue corn tortilla chips (Don’t ask me what brand; I think it’s Kroger or something.) Anyway, I much on the chips until I get down to the bottom quarter of the bag when the little bitty broken pieces are all that is left. I don’t like eating those little pieces (because really, what good are they?) but I never seem to throw the bag away because my internal monologue tells me that it is wasteful to chuck the shards.

So, instead, I end up with about a million different bags of tortilla chips that only have a few handfuls of broken chips left in the bottom. Ridiculous.

Alright, spill! What are some of your quirky behaviors?!

I like to lick my gum wrappers, I have done this for so long I don’t realize I am doing it till someone laughs at me for it.

My husband specifically saves those “chip crumbs” for me because I love them so much. So salty! See, you just need to find a chip crumb lover who will appreciate how you set it aside for them. 🙂

Too funny. Having ocd-like tendencies you know I have a ton of quirks. Funny thing is I don’t notice them much anymore since it’s so 2nd nature. Ha!

Haha that’s pretty funny! I eat things really weird too, I don’t bite my sandwiches I typically pull pieces off and eat it like that. Some of my eating habits drive my husband crazy!

When I eat m&ms or any color like candy I must arrange then in the order of the rainbow and eat the color that has the least number first.

Lol love this. I do the same w string cheese! Weird quirks…I have to eat my lunch in the same order every weekday. And I hate ending a run if it ends on random tenth of a mile number. Drives me crazy

Send those chips to us, my son can feed them to his chickens. And I have no quirks; I am perfection itself! hahahah. I have to brush my teeth in a specific way or it doesn’t feel right.

When I eat an apple, I have to eat around the middle in a circle and then I can either eat the top or bottom. But just chomping into the side of an apple and going at it all willy nilly? Certainly not! 🙂

Make Tortilla Soup with the chip crumbs!!

That is a really good idea!

Seriously! Take some robertos salsa and mix it with some chicken broth, or bullion and H2o. Add a can of chicken breast, or leftover grilled chicken. Heat up. When it is done add some cheese, and the crumbs. Super easy!

haha! i know i have quirky eating behaviors but of course you would ask and i space all of them 😉 one for sure is that I MUST eat things like m&ms and crackers in pairs. i cannot eat an odd number. it drives me nuts!

Ohh I love the shoes on the far right! I have certain foods that I eat a certain way too, and it amazes me when others just chomp right in with no regard, lol

Those are my Brooks Pure Cadence! I bought them a few months ago and have been raving about them ever since. Best shoes EVER for my feet!!

hahaha… that is funny about the chips. Those little pieces ARE pointless. I dump them outside on the grass for the birds to eat. I like to imagine that (to them) they are normal size chips. 🙂

Well, as I’m sure you know…. I already have a bit of a bird problem here in my apartment… like in my dryer… and flying through my living room… so I’m not sure I should encourage that behavior! 🙂

When eating a burger or a sandwich, I will eat the crust or outside first turning it around and around until only the middle is left. Same goes for pancakes. I put a dab of butter in between each layer and then when I get to the last couple of middle bites it is all yummy and buttery.

I also do the same thing as Christi with candy…M&Ms, Skittles, jelly beans. Line them up according to the rainbow and eat them all starting with fewest number. I keep one of each color and then eat them in rainbow order.

Oh, and I make mini sandwiches with Sour Patch Kids and eat all four colors at once.

    I’ve got issues…

I do the string cheese thing too! That makes my heart so happy. 🙂

When I used to eat pop-tarts (a college staple) I ALWAYS ate them the same way: break them in half, then those two halves in half-so they are squares-and eat each square one by one…weird, I know.

I’m pretty sure about 50% of what I do is messy, 45% of what I do is quirky, and the remaining 5% is as close to normal as I’ll ever get. Thank goodness I DON’T live by myself or my world would be complete chaos. Patrick works hard to keep me appearing slightly together on the outside, so other people wont notice how much of a disaster I really am.

And yes, it is very wrong to eat your string cheese that way, but at least you finish it correctly….so you say……

I eat with small spoons, I add boiling water to soup to thin it out, I only eat chilled fruit, I cannot eat a hard egg yolk, and I sleep with an eye mask for total darkness. Yep, special times over in my household. My husband is also very quirky with his eating and habits. He will not touch a tomato “butt” and he eats only perfect fruit with no bruises or blemished. He is all about routines, so you can imagine how uptight he gets when things get out of order. He suddenly has to “go away for business” for a couple weeks until everything is back to normal.

haha okay I am the SAME way with string cheese. It annoys me so much when I can’t peel it. Tried to with the colby jack blocks and failed miserably.

lol – I like to eat string cheese that way too 😉 and I don’t even know what my other weird habits are. I always leave a lake of water all over the sink after washing my face at night – colin hates it 😉
