Just a Colorado Gal

I’ve Got a Case of the Ouchies

Ha, that’s funny. I actually just posted this and re-read it live and realized I completely forgot to include the story behind my title. Duh. Blonde moment (nothing personal, Neon Blonde Runner!!)

Anyway, my knee hurts. Right knee, on the inside. What is that?! I noticed it during the tri last weekend, but I also noticed it in BP the other night, as well as on the stairmaster today. Ugh, if I’m stuck only swimming, I’m not gonna be happy! Think I’ll take a few easy days sans running. Argh.

Labor Day Weekend! Do you know that this weekend is almost one of my fave weekends each year?! (How’s that for convoluted wording?!) I love it because it signals the start of fall, which I totally love, but more importantly, it also signals the beginning of the countdown to the last day of work for the season! Who doesn’t love that?!!

Plus, it’s a three day weekend in which lots of fun stuff happens. I get to go to a bridal shower, a bachelorette party, and a 30th birthday party by tomorrow night which should be good for lots of fun and shenanigans. And food. Those all sound like places with lots and lots of good things for me to eat!

But even more fun?? It’s a 14er weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This time we’re headed up to Buena Vista on Sunday morning to hang out and camp, and then hike Mt. Yale on Monday.

I’m super excited because it’s finally a “new” 14er for me, meaning that I have never done it! I’m getting closer and closer each day to finishing those mountains, and it’s so nice to check a new one of the list. (Unlike Bierstadt which I imagine I’ll probably summit about 10 times before I die. I’m already at 5!) Yale will be good cause it’s just a walk-up, meaning it’s not technical so it’s good for all abilities as long as everyone is in decent shape. This means more of my friends can come because there isn’t any exposure or technical climbing to worry about. Even more important? This little face gets to come!!

She’s pumped. Tals loves hiking and loves chasing marmots even more. She’ll get plenty of both on this camping trip! I kinda like that we are car camping instead of backpacking cause I can bring her little dog bed to go in my tent–sometimes she gets cold and I’ve even had to pull her inside my sleeping bag with me. If she has her dog bed, she’ll be nice and toasty warm!!

What are YOU doing this weekend???
