Happy December everyone!

Guess what—as of today around noon, I am OFFICIALLY DONE WITH WORK for three entire months! Seriously I can barely contain my excitement. I know having the cold and snowy months free isn’t as exciting to some people, but I love it! Other than the 2 weeks around Christmas, nothing is very crowded and I get all the mountains and trails to myself during the week days. You know what that equals?

Pure awesomeness.

Know what else I did today? I registered for my Oly distance tri for the upcoming summer! Like I’ve mentioned before, I chose the Loveland Lake to Lake Tri. I did this triathlon during the summer of 2010, and I really enjoyed it.

It was my first ever Olympic distance, so I had absolutely no idea what to expect, nor did I have any idea of what to do in terms of training. I just kinda jumped into the race (as I tend to do with so many things!) and hoped for the best. I did fine on the swim and the bike, but man was I hurting on the run!  I think it was officially the slowest 10k of my life–roughly 75 minutes. And I wish I was kidding, but I’m totally not 🙂

See, that is some serious pain on my face!!

Either way, now that I know the course and the distance and have one Oly under my belt, I’m hoping for a better time (obvi). I’d also like to actually train for the race instead of just working out all the time, often including swimming, biking, and running. Does that make any sense?!

Ideally the Oly tri will just be a training race for the big half ironman in August. Of course, that would require me actually registering for the 70.3, which hasn’t happened yet! Part of it is the money (ouch, $250!), but the majority of it is that I am scared, plain and simple! HIM training and distances definitely intimidate me because they seem so huge! I know that I definitely want to do it, but I just need to work up the guts to click “register.” It’s a process, people!

Are you already planning your race calendar for 2012?

Are you registering for any races that scare the hell out of you?

Who would like to come play with me now that I have THREE MONTHS OFF?!
