So,wow! We just spent the most relaxing weekend in Caye Caulker, an island off the coast of Belize, and it was wonderful!! We got a decent room, and believe it or not, it actually had cable TV, and since Belize speaks English, we got to actually watch TV for the first time in like a year! It was amazing!! Other than that, we spent A LOT of time hanging out on the beach and doing our tan camp. We also did some diving one day, and that was awesome. We went to the Hol Chan Marine Park, and I got to see sharks!! I was kinda flipping out about them cause I always wondered what I would do when I finally saw one, but these were just nurse sharks and were only like 5 or 6 feet long….so not THAT scary. When I saw the first one, I kinda swam away real fast cause I didn`t want to be near him, but then I got mad at myself. What if that was the only shark I was going to see, and I swam away like a baby and didn`t even really look at him??? Luckily for me, I saw about 6 or 7 more, and one even snuck up on me! I was looking at a grouper–this GIGANTIC black fish that was probably bigger than the sharks–and apparently a shark swam under me and U-turned and came face to face with me. I stared at him for a few seconds, but then we both kinda panicked at the same time and swam off. How cool am I? Very. No manatees, but we also got to see an Eagle Ray which was cool.
Anyway, we left Caye Caulker this morning and are now in Guatemala…but only for two days. We are going to visit the ruins of Tikal tomorrow, which are supposed to be amazing. I hear there are tons of howler monkeys and stuff running through the trees, so of course, I will have to take lots of pictures!
Speaking of which, I finally have a few photos for yáll!!! The first is of the main pyramid at Chichen Itza, the ruins we went to a few weeks ago. The second is of our cabanas on the beach at Tulum, and the third is of Steve, Mike, and Eric at the Tulum ruins (they were the two guys we met and hung out with.) The fourth is our hotel and the “main road” on Caye Caulker, and the last is the dock to our hotel on the Caye as well. We spent many a day jumping off that dock!!!!
