Just a Colorado Gal

Lesson of the Day

One of my favorite things about Colorado is the wide, open sky. You don’t get this type of sky anywhere other than here in the Western states, and I love it. I’ve even noticed when I go back East or to the PNW, I feel a little claustrophobic because I don’t have my open sky! Weird, huh. Anyway, another bonus to the expansive sky is that you can see storms coming from MILES away. Of course, you’ll see a storm coming for hours so you’re never really quite sure when the rain is going to hit. I learned this lesson today!

For example, when a sky looks like this:

You probably shouldn’t take your dog out for a walk, no matter how badly she wants to go. If you do, you might get stuck hanging out underneath a tree for 45 minutes, waiting for the lightning and hail to pass. And you’ll probably look like this by the time you get home:

Yes, that is sopping wet hair. I’m an ass. Lesson learned for the day.

In other news, I went to the movies with a girlfriend tonight and saw this:

Was it the best movie ever? Of course not. But you know, I really love chick flicks and I am not at all embarrassed to admit it! This movie was adorable and that perfect blend of humor and moments where you go, “Awwwwww.” Steve Carell is always funny, and let’s face it: I would not kick Ryan Gosling out of bed for eating crackers.

 Just saying.

Also, has anyone seen Kevin Bacon lately? He was in this movie (as the random, kinda sleazy unlikeable guy–there’s something new for him, right?!) and he kinda looks like he might have gone the Mickey Rourke route with a little plastic surgery. Or maybe it’s just aging, I’m not really sure. Thoughts??
