I thought I understood the need for a honeymoon prior to our wedding. I mean, with all of the planning and ensuing chaos, every bride and groom need some together time just to decompress, right?
As it turns out, I had no idea how much I would NEED a honeymoon! Owning a small business comes with pros and cons, but the major downside is that someone from our family needs to be with the company at all times. Since my sister flew in from Hawaii for our wedding, my parents are spending this week with Melissa and her husband before they fly back to Oahu. By default, I had to be at work this week to ensure things ran smoothly so that they could enjoy parent-daughter bonding time. And in reality, it wasn’t that big of a deal–except I am dying to go on our honeymoon!
Truthfully, this is going to be our first honeymoon….but I’ll share details on the second one at a later date! Regardless of the numerical order, I am besides myself with excitement. Why? Because in 48 hours, my little family loads into our VW Eurovan and hits the road for two weeks!
Beginning this Saturday, Will, Tals and I will be voyaging towards our neighbor of the north: Canada. And finally, we’ve loosely defined an itinerary. Why loosely? Because Mother Nature can be quite fickle, and the whole point of the trip is to chase fall color. Our schedule may work just fine, but if it turns out that colorful leaves exist outside of our preconceived itinerary, you better believe we’ll chuck our plans and chase down the vibrant foliage!
So, what’s our schedule? Glad you asked.
Days 1-2: Lewis and Clark National Forest in central Montana
Days 3-6: Banff and Lake Louise area
Day 7: Driving tour of the Icefields Parkway
Day 8-10: Jasper National Park
Day 11-14: Flathead National Forest in western Montana
Here’s the fun part: since this trip isn’t like a typical honeymoon {in that it is entirely sponsored by Kurgo}, I’ll be social media-ing the entire time. We’ll have a laptop in our Eurovan and semi-frequent WiFi connections. Will I be attached to technology throughout the two-week trip? Probably not. But I won’t be AWOL; be prepared for lots of beautiful photos and outdoor-filled stories!
If you want to follow along with our adventure, keep up with the hashtag #KurgoRoadtrip. I’ll be using it for all of our updates on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
