Luckily It’s Not Groundhog Day

Have y’all ever seen that movie Groundhog Day? It’s the one with Bill Murray where his day keeps repeating itself, over and over again, until he learns his life lessons and establishes his priorities?

(If not, go rent it or something. It’s one of those must-see films, in my opinion!)

Anyway, I am so glad that yesterday wasn’t groundhog day because if I had to deal with it on repeat, I am seriously not sure how I would survive.

I make a concentrated effort to keep work stuff off my blog for both privacy and legal reasons. Having said that, yesterday was a pretty awful day for me at work. I’m not going into details (again, privacy stuff!) but my parents and I had to make a tough decision that while ethically sound, definitely hurt on an emotional level. I sometimes struggle with “business decisions” in the workplace because I very much operate on a personal level. You know that expression, “It’s not personal, it’s just business?” I hate it. And I hate when I get painted into a corner where the one sound decision for the company practically leaves me in tears. Sigh.

So there was that.

I needed a photo, and who doesn’t like to look at a sleepy and adorable Tals?!

After the work drama, I went back to our home office to deal with some paperwork stuff and received a call from my doctor’s office. I went in on Monday for some blood work to determine whether or not I had any food allergies that cause my asthma.ย I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting, but I was definitely disappointed to hear that I do not have any food allergies.ย For most, that would be awesome news because really, who wants to monitor what they eat? However, I had started to believe that maybe I could minimize my asthma stuff, but it turns out that my lungs really just suck. This isn’t earth shattering news, but I guess I was hoping for something different. Double sigh.

So in short, I don’t want to repeat yesterday! However, today is a new day and I’m looking at a weekend full of sunshine, friends and relaxation. Always a silver lining ๐Ÿ™‚

Awww sorry to hear it! Haha, in teaching, as I’m sure you know, it’s all personal. I had an awful day Wednesday, so I was pissed that I had to go to my second job, but it turned into a “fake it till you make it” type deal. Since I couldn’t just go home and cry to Eric and had to pretend to be cheerful, I actually did cheer up. I was surprised how well this worked. And tomorrow is another day!

Just read about your Haiti trip. I was there as a 19 year old in 1983 and I have never gotten over my love for the Haitian people. Here’s a suggestion on giving your fund raising a boost. How about a virtual run for Haiti? I did one of these shortly after the earthquake in 2010 (http://mcmomentsandmemories.blogspot.com/2010/02/run-for-haiti.html). It may be more work than you want to do to set it up, but it would be fun for all of us runners who can’t make it to Haiti with you. Not that I want to run 29.2 miles that day, but maybe that much in a weekend or a week?

This is probably way more than you want, just thought I’d suggest it!

No, I think it’s a great idea! I’ve never done something like that before, but I’m gonna head over to your blog later to check it out– may hit you up if I have any questions ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the suggestion!

I didn’t head up the run, I just participated. Cory, at Read.Write.Run.Mom is doing a virtual run, so she might be a help as well. http://www.readwriterunmom.com/p/half-goofy.html

Playing with your pet makes a blah day much better!

This weekend I have a friends housewarming party, and I’ll “work” on my new blog!

Oh no! I’m sorry you had such a hard day at work, I’ve definitely been there! (Love the photo of Tals, though).

This weekend we are planning on spectating the Niagara Falls International Marathon, it should be fun!
