Mountain Biking in Yellowstone National Park

Man, oh man, am I excited for this trip!! We are leaving early tomorrow morning for Bozeman, and I can’t wait to get up to Montana. I think the scenery is going to beautiful and I’m pretty excited to bring my running shoes to check out Bozeman on Friday morning. The wedding isn’t till the afternoon, but I figure I’ll have time to get a quick run in with my purple magic aqua wonder shoes:

….as well as time to crank out some homework before we head to the wedding. I imagine that the leaves are going to be in full colors which just makes me happy. If I can run through changing leaves and drink a pumpkin spice latte, all will be right with the world. Don’t you agree?

Know what else is going to be awesome about this trip?

Our 2-door Nissan Versa rental car! I actually found a great deal that gives us the rental with unlimited mileage for like $80. Since we both have gas guzzling SUVs and neither of us really wants to put the mileage on our own cars, this seemed like an awesome deal.

Now can you imagine that car with our mountain bikes strapped to the back?! Cause that’s what is going to happen! We decided to bring out mountain bikes because it seems like a lot of the roads in Yellowstone are gravel, which obviously wouldn’t work well for the roadie. If you take a look at this map, you’ll see lots of roads highlighted in green – those are all roads and routes that are accessible to both bikes and cars!

Now, if we could quickly learn to herd buffalo, I think we’d be onto something. Anyone have tips on that skill?

Have any of you taken your bikes to Yellowstone? And great tips or advice for us??

See you on the flip side!
