My Baking Prowess

….it really astounds me. Truly, it does.

Ha, JUST KIDDING!!!

I have a Halloween/pumpkin carving gathering at a friend’s house tonight, and since I decided that I’m pretty positive there will be more than enough….um, adult beverages available, I decided to go the other really-bad-for-you route: I baked cupcakes!

And no, they are not even close to healthy! When I’m eating sugar, I’m gonna go all out! The only substitute I threw in for a quasi-health twist was that again, half the butter was removed from the recipes and replaced with chia seed gel. That’s pretty basic when I bake these days. I am excited to try the candy corn cupcakes! I decided to get all fancy and split the white batter into two bowls. I then dyed one bowl orange and the other yellow, and then layered it into the cupcake containers like that. Get it?!? Like a candy corn?! Sometimes,  I tell you my creativity astounds me 😉

Um, I may or may not have just found cupcake crumbs in my hair. Hmmm. That’s awkward!

So I went to Body Pump last night after my mini-me interval workout on the treadmill, and I gotta tell you–I really enjoy those BP classes! Like a lot of women, I truly struggle to get enough strength training in. To make it even tougher, I dislike being in the free weight section of my gym (known as the “meat market” to me!) because I feel like the men just stare! Some women love it and enjoy the attention, but I am not one of them. Plus, I don’t really know what I’m doing in there and am apt to tie a cable around my head before I figure it out! BP is perfect for me to get my all-over body strengthening without looking like an ass in the free weights. Win-win.

Clearly, this man didn’t know how to use his weights either!

On that note, I’m sure most of you have already heard, but if not, you really should check out the HBBC over at Run to the Finish! It looks like things are gonna get going in the next few weeks, and she has some really awesome sponsors lined up!! Besides, it really means you can eat all of the Christmas cookies and Halloween candy that you want! (Or at least, that’s how I look at it!)

Any Halloween plans this weekend? Who is dressing up? As what?

Are you do the HBBC?

Those cupcakes look tasty and cute. I am baking for our halloween party too. Although we are going to have way more juice boxes than adult beverages. I used to go to body pump all the time. I really like that class and it made me more confident to go out to the weight room on my own. Like you I don’t love that part of the gym.

Pardon me while I wipe the drool off my lip. Those cupcakes look so good!

I was drooling over those cupcakes, but then “chia seed gel” made me retch a little. Butter for life!

I liked Body Pump a lot too. I just wish there was a 30 min option, an hour is just too long and I get bored.

I definitely am lacking in the baking department, and I readily accept that it is not my forte haha. I love BodyPump, too! I always feel like I’m being stared at when I go to the weights section (probably in my head), so I purposely go when I think there will be fewer people there.

oh those candy corn cupcakes look soooo good… and I love the coloring idea, too!!

I feel more comfortable being in the weight room now than I used to, but it helps that I had my husband go to the gym with me and show me how to use everything, so that I’m not totally lost in there.
