My First Ever GIVEAWAY!!

First of all, thanks to everyone who sent such sweet thoughts my way yesterday! My and my jacked up lungs are learning to co-exist, but your words of encouragement made it even easier!

Anyway, remember on Monday when I hinted that I had a giveaway coming up this week? Pretty sure today is the day!

***EDITED TO ADD: I’ll have you all know that this must be some good stuff cause Tally keeps circling the box of SunButter, on full sniffer alert. If I don’t send this stuff out soon, I’m gonna have a SunButter filled puppy on my hands!***

Back this summer, I mentioned that I had received an awesome bag of goodies when I competed at the Barkin’ Dog duathlon. In this bag, I received a sample of SunButter. I had never heard of it before, but I gave it a try and loved it.

Their website describes SunButter as the following:

SunButter^® is a great tasting alternative to peanut butter. A seed butter that is made in the USA from specially roasted sunflower seeds, SunButter^® products are completely peanut-free, tree-nut free, and gluten-free. The sunflower seed spread products are all processed in a peanut-free and tree-nut free facility, making them an excellent choice for people with peanut allergies or gluten intolerance.

Even better than being peanut-free and gluten-free? It also has 1/3 less saturated fat than peanut butter. Now, I’m not a nutritionist, but I’m pretty positive that saturated fat = no bueno!

At first, the thinner consistency took some getting used to, especially for me. I eat a lot of almond butter and we all know how thick almond butter can get once it has been refrigerated–I’m pretty sure I’ve snapped a few plastic knives 🙂 Because of this, I was originally weirded out by the runny consistency of SunButter– it is substantially thinner. Once I got past that, however, I really enjoy putting SunButter in my oatmeal and overnight oats. It still adds that nutty flavor, only with less fat. I’m not averse to nuts or gluten, so those factors aren’t super important for me. I just like the way it tastes!
