Because of this, I was psyched when Jess from Sunglasses Shop contacted me to test a pair of sunglasses. I have been looking for a second pair to work into my outdoor rotation with the Oakleys my sister got me for my birthday last year. I like to use running glasses during my all of my outdoor activities because they can typically withstand a beating and don’t bounce all over my face. These are both key elements if the glasses are coming into the backcountry with me.
Per Jess’s recommendation, I chose the Oakley Women’s Commit sunglasses. It was a tough choice since Sunglasses Shop carries every pair of shades imaginable, but I took her advice since she is a marathoner herself. Plus, I have always had a lot of luck with Oakley sunglasses (including my ski goggles). If it isn’t broke, you don’t fix it, right?

| Love how reflective the lenses are! |
Over the past few weeks, I’ve tested the Commit glasses out while trail running, hiking, driving, and snowshoeing. In short, I’ve run them through the gamut of activities that a lens needs to withstand in order to remain in my life. Final verdict? These are one of the best sunglasses I’ve ever owned. Period.
The Good: The lens itself is fantastic and the clarity is pretty darn amazing. Additionally, the lenses are enhanced with Oakley Hydrophobic which is a coating that supposedly repels dust while maintaining a smudge-resistant barrier. I’m always pushing my glasses from my face to the top of my head and then back again, so I typically collect a ridiculous amount of smudges on a daily basis. While I definitely still smudged these a few times, I noticed that it was significantly less. I also liked the fact that the nose pieces don’t grab my hair when I push the lenses onto my head. Not that I style my hair that often, but when I do, I prefer that my sunglasses don’t get all tangled up in it!

Additionally, these suckers do not bounce! One of my biggest pet peeves in running glasses (along with the majority of the population, I’m sure) is when the frame bounces on your nose while running or hiking. That drives me bonkers. Luckily, these do no such thing and that makes me happy! Finally, I definitely need to point out that these lenses don’t smash my eyelashes like I’ve experienced so frequently with past shades. I have abnormally long eyelashes (I even cut them when I was little girl because so many people asked me if they were fake!) and struggle to find glasses that don’t press against them. I don’t know if it’s Oakleys Three-Point Fit that affords my lashes the space, but regardless, I’m thankful. Also, did I mention that they don’t fog up at all? Not once!
The Not-So-Good: Surprisingly, I don’t have anything negative to say about the Commit glasses! At first, I was a little unsure of the Freshwater color since it is a bit flashier than my usual black or brown, but I’ve even grown to love that. Y’all, these are seriously great sunglasses!

Great photos Heather!!! Lovet his.
i totally hate how sunglasses bounce on my face! huge annoyance! but then again, i try to use non-athletic glasses for athletic activities. if you thought i didn’t invest in new running shoes often enough, we won’t even talk about sunglasses 🙂
I have a smallish face/head so oftentimes I have a hard time finding glasses that fit properly. The bouncing issues drives me bonkers too. Loving your new sunglasses.
Love the photos… and I LOVe that these glasses DO NOT BOUNCE! (pet peeve of running/sports with glasses)
Hi Heather! I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago, but it’s safe to say I’m hooked!
This post was interesting to me because I always have trouble with glasses… any kind. Mostly, because I have a small head (some people call me peanut head – in the most endearing way…). Usually glasses are HUGE on my face and I end up looking like a bug, or they are too wide for my nose and constantly slide down.
I’ve never spent more than $20 on a pair of sunglasses, but maybe I’ll have to change that because of my inability to find a pair just right for me.
Thanks for the info, looking forward to reading more on your blog!
Glad you enjoy the blog!

Cool snowpants 🙂
My biggest annoyance with glasses is being unable to find a good fashion/sporty compromise!
I had a pair a few years ago, but lost them in the river when I tiped while rowing..
Since then I bought a few cheap pairs, but the frame always cracks after a while.
I definately have to invest in a good pair, especially because this winter I’ll be living at around 6000ft!
No worries, I will check your blog tomorrow for the “surprise”! haha
Oops, tomorrow being today. I didn’t think you posted on weekends!
Ha, I don’t typically but sometimes I will when the notion strikes me!
I’ve had two rocks hit two different pairs of sunglasses while mountain biking. People always say “there’s something wrong with your lens” because they have indents in them from the rocks. I have a tough time finding shades that fit a small face. Especially under helmets.
I wear sunglasses all the time, but have had less luck convinceing my kids — still hoping! Will’s photos are amazing.
I was the same when I was a teen! My mom was always lecturing me, but I “knew best.” 🙂 Luckily, I got smarter as I got older!
I commented on this yesterday and it’s gone….????
I noticed that! I saw your notification come through yesterday on my phone, but then when I logged on via my laptop, it was gone! I thought you deleted it…?!
Love those sunglasses! I’m not from Colorado (I wish!), but I’ve been traveling there since I was a child and having proper eyewear was always something I was taught to do. It’s too painful not to!
Nice sunglasses!
