Opening Weekend!

Again, my obsession with skiing 🙂

For those of you not from Colorado, opening day could mean a zillion different things: baseball season, a new coffee shop, etc. For me, this time of the year, opening day can only mean one thing: the first ski resort to open for the season!

And it happened TODAY!

Skiing at Winter Park last year

Every year, there is a serious battle nationwide to be the first ski resort to open for the new season. Typically, the usually players are A-Basin (Colorado), Loveland (Colorado), and Sunday River (Maine). More often than not, Loveland dominates everyone and opens by the end of October. Last year was a very sad, sad year for me because somehow Sunday River won the race. I still haven’t gotten over that one. Anyway, this year Wolf Creek shocked the hell out of everyone and announced that they would be opening on October 8 — today!! With 3 feet of fresh and natural snow, I’m wishing I was there!!

In other news, I’m having a bit of a dilemna. I keep seeing everyone redesigning their blogs, dropping the blogspot, etc. and I’m thinking I’d like to jump on the bandwagon. Yes, I’m a bandwagon supporter. I’ve said it. But here is my issue: when I named my blog 6 years ago, I wasn’t really thinking ahead. I slapped a name on the blog that seemed apt for my upcoming travels, and I called it good. These days, my blog name is a bit….. generic. And it’s long! I’m just not entirely sure it is quite right for my blog anymore.

So here is my question: should  I keep my blog name since I have had it for so long and because it’s kinda already been circulated? (since I am sooooooo popular and everything). Or should I rename it, and move forward with a new name?

And if you pick option 2, any great name suggestions for me??

Keep an eye out for a future “Day in the Life” post! If you live under a rock and haven’t checked out Shut Up and Run’s blog, please do because you will probably die laughing hysterically!

Happy weekend!!!

Hey!! I think you can TOTALLY change the name if you want. People evolve and change all the time! Do what works best for you right now. IF that means a different name DO IT.

I am new to blogging and blogger….where are people moving their blogs???? I’m so OUT OF THE LOOP.

PS I wish I could ski.

PPS I’ll be in CO in December….I’ll organize your closet….hahah.. My BFF lives in Ft. Collins. I HEART COLORADO. It’s not called coloRADo for nothing. I’s RAD….haha

    xoxo

I was ridiculously excited about the snow today and a little bummed The Husband has to work tonight or we would potentially get irresponsible and just go for it!

I think if you are going to change up your blog name now is the time to do it. It is going to take people a while to get used to the new URL anyways, might as well change the name if you want!

Hmm..’ll have to agree. I think that if you want to change it, go ahead. You shouldn’t just keep your current name because it’s convenient. Your true followers will still be your followers and will come along with you to your brand new site. I say do what works for you at this point in your life. If you see your blog going in a different direction than what you anticipated, then go for it. Change the name to what you thin is appropriate.

I haven’t been skiing in forever! Not sure why…we get tons of snow in the winter! I think I want to try snowboarding next though!

I agree with everything they said! I am not a skier person, the whole speed thing is too scary for me. I like the bunny slopes and going really slow, sadly that is when skiing is the funnest for me. I am not an adrenaline junky 🙂

I have no genius ideas to toss for a new name….. I’ve thought about switching to wordpress several times, but don’t have the confidence that I’m savvy enough to tackle the task on my own. Let me know how it goes! If I don’t get to ski this year, I will probably cry.
