Just a Colorado Gal

Park Cityyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Whew, what a whirlwind of a 4th of July! On Friday, my parents and I–along with Tally, Zeke, and Isis!–hopped in the Tundra and drove out to Park City, UT to visit my sis. Technically, she lives in Midway which is a tiny tiny town about 15 minutes from Park City, but since no one has ever heard of it….I’ll make it simple 🙂

Anyway, the drive was brutal. Three adults with three dogs crammed in one car is no bueno. We finally made it in late Friday night though, and the rest of the weekend was spent playing. Since Mormons don’t do much on Sundays, the fireworks and everything else were actually done on Saturday even though it was only July 3. Isis ended up with some vet issues so we kinda layed low on Saturday, taking care of her and recovering from the drive. I did walk down to a nearby river with Bennett and watched him fish while Tals roamed the shores. Needless to say, my dog is NOT a fisherman’s dog! She doesn’t understand that she can’t go in the water! 🙂

Sunday was dedicated entirely to fishing….which was unfortunate for my dad and me who don’t fish! 😉 We went up to Strawberry Reservoir and spent the entire day playing outside. Missy tried to teach me to cast, but I promptly lost the hook in some grasses behind  me. After that, I was only allowed to practice sans hook 🙂 It was still fun though, and it was nice to get outside.

My parents were taking a longer break than me, so I bought a one-way ticket back from SLC and flew in yesterday. Of course, as it typically goes in airports, my flight was delayed and I was about halfway through my damn book by the time we boarded! Funny story though–I was wandering around, looking out windows and basically doing anything to avoid sitting, and this older woman walks up to me and shoves her ticket in my face. She kepts pointing at her seat number and waving her arms in the air. I’m staring at her, seriously wondering what she is doing, when I see that her last name on the ticket is Bautista….clearly Spanish. Long story short, the poor woman doesn’t speak a word of English and was totally lost in the airport. She though her seat number was her terminal/gate number and she was all sorts of turned around! I happened to be the person she chose to ask for help, and she was seriously almost in tears when she realized I spoke Spanish. I got her to her gate, but lo and behold, I turned around and there was another woman standing there, waiting for me to translate! She had seen me speaking with the first woman and had patiently waited until I had  a free moment to help her too. Totally  bizarre but really funny. I felt like the spanish-speaking information center of the Salt Lake airport! Aren’t airports supposed to be bilingual?!!

And on another, totally girly and awesome note, I saw the new Twilight movie last night! Lisa, Heather, Brandy and I went to see an early evening show and of course, loved it. Irony always seems to find us though. We were walking out of the theater, talking about the whole “eternal love” thing that is so dominant in the movie, and we realized that of us four, Brandy is the only one who isn’t single! How often does that happen in a group of almost 30-something females?! I think it was a sign that we were supposed to see the movie together 🙂
