Just a Colorado Gal

Road Trip: San Diego to Denver

Sure look like I fell off the writing wagon, doesn’t it?

In all fairness, it couldn’t be helped. In fact, was anyone else on WP affected by the cyber attack yesterday?! I couldn’t access my blog the entire day because my hosting service had it on lockdown to protect it from web bots or something. I’m glad they did what they did, but man! What the heck are web bots?!

Anyway, I did disappear for the past couple of days, and if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you already know why:

1200 miles later and Will now lives in Colorado! I didn’t make a big deal about this beforehand because there is a lot going on and I have to keep a few things private Y’all, I have so much whirling around these days, but I promise it will all make sense eventually!

Anyway, I flew out to San Diego late on Friday night via a one-way plane ticket. After making a few last minute adjustments to the moving van and the trailer towing his car, we ready to go early on Saturday morning.

Here’s the thing: road trips always sound so romantic and full of adventure, but I’m pretty sure that only applies when you have unlimited time and zero pressure to be anywhere! Unfortunately, we had neither since I had to be back in Denver for work, and poor Will was stuck steering a 16 foot truck with a 15 foot trailer attached to the back of it. This, my friends, does not equal a low stress situation. However, I don’t want to make y’all think the trip was entirely miserable. In fact, it really was fun! The excitement of Will’s move made us both a little giddy, and we enjoyed checking out the sights of the American southwest.

Barstow, CA. Hunter S. Thompson, anyone?

We tried purchasing an audiobook to keep us entertained, but in the end, we preferred lots of music and conversation. Time together has been so rare over the past few months that we just seemed to want to talk…and talk…and talk some more! I had packed minimal clothes, so I spent the entire weekend in the same comfy road trip outfit, and Will did the same. Nothing like stretchy pants for maximum comfort!

We spent Sunday night at my parents’ mountain home so that we could catch my mama for Mother’s Day. Mom and Dad had brought Tally over to the cabin with them, so we spent the last day in the moving truck as a trio: Will, Tals, and me! I about died when I looked over and saw Tals gazing up at Will while he navigated the mountainous roads. Could this pup look any more smitten?!

In the end, we made it back to D-town around dinner time Monday night, and finally got everything sorted and put away and the truck/trailer returned a little later. It sure made for a tiring couple of days, but obviously, I’m not complaining. I mean, HOORAY! Will lives in Colorado!
