Just a Colorado Gal

Spreading a Lil’ Love

Ok, if y’all follow me on The Twitter or Instagram, I’m positive you’ve seen these pics before…. but whatever. There are a couple of products that I’ve been sent over the past few months that I have spent a decent amount of time wearing…. and since now I can honestly say I love them, I thought I’d share the good details with y’all!

When I was in Hawaii, I bitched about how my running shorts chafed the living daylights out of my inner thigh. Granted, I’ve always had what I call “cyclist thighs” but I’ve never had an issue with chafing in my life (and no, I’m not getting all body-image weird, so don’t freak. I’ve just always had larger, strong quads and I’m okay with it!) I was irritated! I slightly-vehemently complained about my new prob on Twitter, and the wonderful reps at Oiselle offered to send me a pair of their distance shorts. See, they’re already good peeps 🙂

Boom. I’m in love.

Remember that time I watched a fight while running? Yup. I was in my Oiselle shorts 🙂

Anyway, I’ve really come to love these shorts! Somehow, they don’t ride up at my waist which is the most annoying thing in the world. Even better? They actually have three built-in pockets: one is on the inside of the short in the front, where they typically are, but there is another zip pocket on the side of the right leg, as well as a second zip pocket on the back, right above your tailbone. When I actually prepare myself for my runs, I  use these pockets for my car key, Gu, etc…. and nothing bugs me or rubs weird. And I’m picky, so that’s saying something! The other awesome part is that they are only $39 which I think is totally reasonable for good running shorts!

The only downside is that they are slightly shorter than I’m used to, but I think that’s due to the split cut or whatever; the sides go up a bit. And I have issues, so there’s really nothing you can do to help me with that!

And you know the other thing I’m loving? That shirt you see right there. Yup, the blue one. It’s glorious.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a bit, you’ll remember that I was chosen as a member of Columbia Sportswear’s OmniTen. With that announcement, I was sent a box of fun gear…. including this Omni-Freeze tech shirt. The theory behind the Omni-Freeze technology is that the fabric disperses your body heat and helps transfer it away from your skin, thus keeping you cool.

Now, I remember when all this “tech fabric” came out years ago and I thought it was all a crock. Don’t blame me– I still swore by cotton! 🙂  However, after having spent hundreds of days in the back country, I now realize that those fancy scientists have really been able to cook up some good stuff in the labs, and this shirt is no exception. I’m not usually a t-shirt wearer (I prefer tanks) but I’ve found myself wearing the shirt A LOT.

Evidence:

Yup, reusing this pic. And yup, that’s me on the left, wearing my Columbia shirt mountain biking last weekend! And nope, we really didn’t realize we were all matchy-matchy. Lame.

The Omni-Freeze shirt really seems to transfer heat away from your body and it’s super comfy. It’s not tight, but it’s fitted enough that it doesn’t swish around on my body which is awesome because I hate that swishy feeling. I also love that the shirt is incredibly soft– kinda like I’m wearing angel wings or something. Haha, just kidding on that last part, but it really gave you a visual, didn’t it?!

Man, I’m such a nerd.

Bottom line? I think you should go shopping. Just saying.

Do you have any favorite running gear? Particular running shorts that you love?

On an unrelated note, can anyone tell me why my little boxes on the top left of the page are black? Those were my icons for Twitter and my RSS feed, and the links still work, but the boxes went away and I’m not smart enough to fix them 🙂
