I’m not sure I’ve mentioned this yet or not, but my parents took off last week to visit my sister in Hawaii. Since I can’t quite swing both a trip now and a trip in February, I’m “stuck” behind in the good ol’ CO, housesitting for them. Of course, with the housesitting comes their two dogs: an 85 lb. brute of a boxer named Zeke, and a sweet old grandma husky named Isis. And Tals, of course. It’s like I’m living in a freaking pet menagerie.

Isis..she’s a digger. Can you tell?!
My girl 🙂
Zeke (or Bubba, as I like to call him!)
I truly love of all of them, but let me tell you– getting them exercised has become a chore in itself!! Tally is so energetic so she needs a good hour every day just to take the edge off. Zeke is a total sweetheart, but he is kind of a bully and prefers to use his head as a battering ram when around other dogs (pugs are his fave!) And Isis? Well, she is just so old and senile that she can’t really keep up with the rest of the group. What does this all mean?
No dog park because Isis can’t keep up and Zeke assaults all of the other dogs.
No group runs because Tally and Zeke end up pulling me into a fence and Isis into the curb.
No bike rides with Zeke because I tend to fear for my life.
In short, it means they each individually get their own, catered walk/run each day. I should probably just open a dog walking company at this rate! Tals gets her long, off-leash run at the dog park for an hour. I come back, grab the leash and take Zeke for an easy 1-2 mile run by himself so he can chew on the leash and watch the world go by (I just keep my fingers crossed that we don’t encounter any other dogs. Otherwise, I’m toast!) We come back from round 2, and then I grab the other *purple* leash and take Isis out for her 20 min/mile walk through the neighborhood so she can sniff everything to her heart’s content.
And when that’s all done? I finally get my workout in 🙂 Phew!!!!
On to bigger and more exciting (for you!) things! Today is…..giveaway day!!
Awhile back, I was poking around on the internet and stumbled upon the Fashletics website. It caught my eye because they have a lot of fun clothing and jewelry dedicated to both endurance sports and lifting. I feel like you don’t see that too often, and because I am really trying to incorporate more strength training into my life, I was immediately intrigued. I contacted the owner, Sarah, and she was sweet enough to send me some awesome stuff of my own! She said I could pick any piece of jewelry from her site, and this necklace immediately caught my eye:
Since I received it, I’m pretty sure it hasn’t come off my neck! It’s small enough that it goes with pretty much anything, but the writing is so noticeable that I’ve had quite a few people ask me about it. I’ve worn it during quite a few workouts as well (including my dog walking chaos this morning!), and I think it is a wonderful mantra to keep running through my head….and it pertains to SO many aspects of life, athletically related or not.
Sarah was also kind enough to throw in a key chain, which unbeknownst to her, I really, REALLY needed!!
I’ll spare you the image of my janitor’s key chain, but just so you know–my mechanic told me I might be doing damage to my ignition because of the weight of all of my keys. No joke.
The best part? Sarah was sweet enough to offer one of my readers a $25 gift certificate for anything on the Fashletics website!!! I loved this because they have both men’s and women’s clothing, so this is a giveaway that’s fun for the guys too 🙂
