On that note, if you haven’t already you should hop over to A Journey to Thin and check out her Thanksgiving Virtual 5k!
I’ve never done one of these virtual 5ks, but I think I’m going to give this one a try. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m already registered for the Copper Gobbler 5k Snowshoe race on November 26, but that’s 2 days AFTER Thanksgiving. I did it last year also, and it was a lot of fun. It was super small– like less than 75 people total — but it was so fun just to tromp around in the snow. I think I finished like 7th in my age group, but don’t get too excited–I’m positive my age group only had like 12 people! My finishing time was around 1hr. 10min which was clearly AWESOME for a 5k (I kid, I kid.) I remember lots of snowballs and throwing happening, so maybe this year I’ll try to take it more seriously and finish a bit faster….but maybe not. I mean, playing in the snow is fun!!

ย Remember this movie??!
You should go click on the link for the Gobbler though, cause I do feel a bit famous–there is a pic of Cindy, Craig, and myself with the Copper Gobbler leadout turkey on the homepage. Clearly our smiling faces were webpage worthy!
Anyway, after that tangent, back to the virtual 5k! It looks like I am going to be spending Thanksgiving with my fam in the mountains. My parents just finished building a second home in the small town of Cedaredge and I can’t wait to finally see it finished for the holidays. Unfortunately, the town is incredibly small and doesn’t have a Turkey Trot, but nearby Grand Junction does. My mom tore her ACL this past March (skiing with me on my birthday, AHEM!) so she isn’t in running form, but she wants to give run/walking a 5k a try. I think we are both gonna shoot up to GJ and run the trot there before the eating festivities start. In that sense, I’m pretty lucky–my turkey trot will kill two birds (turkeys) with one stone–free up some room in the tummy AND complete the virtual 5k. WINNING!

Oh Charlie, do you see what you’ve done to yourself? You’ve now become a household name….and I don’t mean that in a good way!
Be prepared guys–I’ve got my first-ever giveaway coming up this week!!

I like to do virtual races though not nearly as much as a real race. Yay for a giveaway I can’t wait to see what it is!
That snowshoe race sounds so fun! I’ve never snowshoed before…pity I know. I won’t be running a turkey trot, but I’m running the ColderBoulder as my first race ๐
No race for me this weekend =( but that virtual 5k sounds awesome! I will be running a 10k on Thanksgiving day so maybe I will count the first half as the virtual 5k. I am SO jealous of you mountain get away!

I did one virtual race this year and it was pretty cool! Maybe I will add this one to my list. I have to travel over T-day so this would be a great way to get a Turkey Trot done anyway!
FYI, yes I do get cranky when I am on my cleanse!
That’s fun that you’re going to be doing a 5k walk/run w/ your mom! I would love if my parents could work up to that, but since my mom is bionic with double knee replacements, she’d def be walking the whole time haha.
I have my first MARATHON this weekend eeek!!!!!
I’m doing my best to convince Allan we both doing the Thanksgiving Virtual 5K and he’s not cooperating. Oh well, the dog and I will give it a go!
Woo! You are pretty much famous for being on that homepage!! I love that you and your mom run together! So fun ๐ I wish my mom would run with me!
I’ve never done a virtual race but I would love to. I’m just taking some time off running but a 5K is short enough that I might have to hop on the virtual bandwagon!
Can’t wait for the giveaway!
New Reader here….
