Just a Colorado Gal

Tiger Blood + Turkeys = WINNING!

Happy Monday! (Do those two words even go together??) Hopefully everyone had an awesome weekend! I know so many out there were running at Savannah or NYC–I look forward to the recaps. I spent my entire weekend studying and doing homework– like seriously, the entire weekend. Is it wrong that I can’t wait until next semester when I have to write my thesis? I mean, at least then it won’t be silly homework assignments!

On that note, if you haven’t already you should hop over to A Journey to Thin and check out her Thanksgiving Virtual 5k!

I’ve never done one of these virtual 5ks, but I think I’m going to give this one a try. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m already registered for the Copper Gobbler 5k Snowshoe race on November 26, but that’s 2 days AFTER Thanksgiving. I did it last year also, and it was a lot of fun. It was super small– like less than 75 people total — but it was so fun just to tromp around in the snow. I think I finished like 7th in my age group, but don’t get too excited–I’m positive my age group only had like 12 people! My finishing time was around 1hr. 10min which was clearly AWESOME for a 5k (I kid, I kid.) I remember lots of snowballs and throwing happening, so maybe this year I’ll try to take it more seriously and finish a bit faster….but maybe not. I mean, playing in the snow is fun!!

 Remember this movie??!

You should go click on the link for the Gobbler though, cause I do feel a bit famous–there is a pic of Cindy, Craig, and myself with the Copper Gobbler leadout turkey on the homepage. Clearly our smiling faces were webpage worthy!

Anyway, after that tangent, back to the virtual 5k! It looks like I am going to be spending Thanksgiving with my fam in the mountains. My parents just finished building a second home in the small town of Cedaredge and I can’t wait to finally see it finished for the holidays. Unfortunately, the town is incredibly small and doesn’t have a Turkey Trot, but nearby Grand Junction does. My mom tore her ACL this past March (skiing with me on my birthday, AHEM!) so she isn’t in running form, but she wants to give run/walking a 5k a try. I think we are both gonna shoot up to GJ and run the trot there before the eating festivities start. In that sense, I’m pretty lucky–my turkey trot will kill two birds (turkeys) with one stone–free up some room in the tummy AND complete the virtual 5k. WINNING!
