Just a Colorado Gal

Tokyo Recap

So, our time in Japan is winding down here, but I have really had a good time. And the weird part is that I think it may have been one of the oddest experiences I have had yet in my travels. Sure, South America was definitely way different than anything I had ever experienced, but I could at least speak the language. I am seriously struggling here, not being able to talk to anyone, let alone read a damn sign! And, although I hate to admit it, I am one of those people that picks up the menu and points at a string of characters….lord help me that I am not eating something bad!
So, nobody in Tokyo wears colors….all black, and the occasional muted brown or blue. Of course, I Am strolling around in a baby blue jacket my sister got me, so i stand out like the American I am, but it was an interesting observation, at least!
The other odd thing here is that maybe 1 out of 10 of the people on the streets wear those surgical masks, and they have an entire shelf dedicated to them at the convenience stores (7-11s, nonetheless!) I cant quite figure out why they do it, unless they are that concerned about airborne diseases and illnesses. But it is kinda strange to see a beautiful woman walk by, all dressed up in a suit or a kimono, and then a surgical mask on her face. Strange!
So, we fly to Thailand in a few hours, and I am way excited. in a few hours, and I am way excited. Not that Tokyo isn:t awesome, but it is just another city and I am excited for the beaches and the sun…..not to mention that it is kinda cold here!! (Not as cold as Colorado, so Im told, but still!)
I will try to put some pictures up soon!!!
