Tutus and Zombies

Let’s play a game called, “What two things most likely should not be in the same category?” My vote is for tutus and zombies. Luckily, I’ve never been one for conventionalism!

Remember how I mentioned a few days ago that I am doing the Organ Trail Urban Adventure race this Saturday? Well, of course we have to have the appropriate attire to participate! Duh! After the gym last night, a few of the girls and I went to Party City to figure out the details. Of course, we bought a bunch of zombie makeup so the talented makeup gals in the group (i.e. NOT me) can turn our faces into zombified nightmares. I was wicked curious to see what that entails, but apparently they make kits for this sort of thing. You know, the usual blood, lacerations, black gunk, and white cream….the usual! We also got some red and gray hair dye –you know, cause those colors scream blood and old age! — as well as some fun knee high socks and tutus.

Yes, I said a tutu.

After all, what would be a true zombie race without a tutu? Ballerinas and other dancers die and turn into zombies just as often as anyone else. I’ve watched scary movies before; I know this is true! In light of that, we decided that we were gonna be zombies in tutus. Logically, the best option! I am curious to see how running in a tutu works out for me. There is 4+ miles of running, as well as some obstacles, so the tutu could be an interesting experiment. I might have to go all Black Swan on the thing if it decides to piss me off or something.

I’m a little more concerned interested in what they are going to make us eat! The rules said to think of a combination between Fear Factor and the Amazing Race….if  I remember correctly, Fear Factor involved either climbing into pits of snakes, which I find highly unlikely, or eating the grossest, slimiest, most disgusting things on the planet. It’s Halloween. We are in a zombie race. I’m betting on the latter! If it gets too gross,  I might have to bust out the angry Black Swan moves again. With the tutu.

Another awesome, fun Friday fact? My sis just informed me last night that she just now subscribed via email to my blog. I’ve had the thing for 6 years. Way to take your time on that one, lil sis!!  😉

You know what else I think is awesome? This picture:

And I’ll leave you with that. Happy weekend everyone!

What are you doing this weekend? Anyone doing anything Halloween-themed?

Are you dressing up in costume this year? As what?

Favorite Halloween candy….GO!

(Little sis, I’m expecting a comment from YOU!)

Love that you’re doing a fear factor race this weekend… I’ve always wanted to be on amazing race, but if someone asks me to eat tarantualas or something, I’m out! 🙂

A zombie in a tutu! That is awesome! FYI, I love the movie Black Swan! I think if you go all Black Swan when you are hit with the grossest thing out then you might not have to eat it!

    Have fun!

I saw chicks in my marathon last weekend in tutus. Of course, I passed them all, but they didn’t seem hindered by their tulle. 🙂

I think the only acceptable way to wear a tutu in race is to also dress as a zombie while you do it. The costumes look great!

And I don’t think anyone on my side of the family reads my blog ever, except my sister-in-law (and now that she’s pregnant I’m going to lose her too). Your sister subscribing gives me hope.

You are going to make an awesome Ballerina Zombie, though I can’t believe you spent money on a pre-made tutu when you could have made one for a few dollars….literally!
I hope you don’t have to eat any animal balls this weekend! haha.
My family says they read the blog, and then when I mention things, and they don’t know what I’m talking about, they totally get caught……rugh rogh!
The ice-climing thing sounds pretty awesome, but I don’t think I could ever endure enough cold to climb Everest, regardless if someone PAID me to do it.

That is the perfect attire, I love it!! I was just at WalMart getting loads of Zombie stuff for my daughter, she is doing the Zombie Crawl but not doing the urban adventure (she has to work). I think it sounds like a blast, I can’t wait to see your pictures. Look for my daughter today…like you’ll be able to spot her since you’ve never seen her, but she’ll be all decked out in white (white hair, white face, white shirt and I think jeans with blood all over them).
