I often wonder how in the world this tiny little spot on the internet managed to gift me so many opportunities in life!
Meeting the man I will marry.
OmniTen.
Traveling to Jordan.
Discovering some of the greatest adventure buddies a gal could ever want.
Truthfully, I could go on for days about how fortunate I am in regards to this whole blogging thing. I mean, I just wanted to to make sure my parents knew I was alive and kicking in South America, you know?! I didn’t know this online “weblog” thing would actually last!
{I was placing bets for MySpace. Oops.}
Last week I was once again surprised by my online fortune: I was nominated by USA Today for one of their Ten Best Outdoor Blogs!
I wasn’t contacted about the contest and it was almost a day into the voting before someone shot me a message, letting me know that I was one of the 20 nominees. At first I was totally confused: I was a nominee for what?! But then I clicked over and saw my face staring back at me!
{Side note: the profile picture with the bangs had to go! It was bad enough that it was a bathroom selfie that I took for Will immediately after chopping my bangs, but now the flipping picture is on the USA Today website! Lesson learned; the internet never forgets!}
Although I don’t know them all personally, the 20 nominees look like very cool people. And, as luck would have it, I happen to know a handful of them through the OmniTen deal! One of my Season One compadres is even battling it out for the first position!
As for me? I’m happily seated in the top five, continually interchanging between third and fourth place with Michelle, another one of my OmniTen pals. However, voting continues through the entire month of August, and I’m not totally confident that I will be able to stay in my position. Some of these bloggers are fantastic!
Naturally, you know what’s coming next: I’d love your votes! This is one of those vote-every-day things which are probably my least favorite thing on the planet. Fortunately, it requires zero registration so you literally just have to click. If you feel so inclined, you can obviously get trigger happy for the rest of the month: I wouldn’t blame you!
For those of you that have already voted, I truly appreciate it more than words can express. For the rest, thank you in advance!
